Title: Help with Starting in Safe mode...
Post by: Halmtier on April 08, 2004, 04:10:27 am
I try starting in the SAFE mode, and get an error message before the game just shuts down...

FATAL ERROR!
Crystalspace.video.software: 8-bit Palette mode no longer works in the sofeware renderer!

But I don\'t have A gl 3D card... so I want to run it in this mode! Any help?

(Oh, and the GL mode works, but it\'s ever so laggy... I have a 1.2ghz with 200+ mem and DSL.)

That\'s right. It lags on everyone\'s machine. No matter if you have a very fast or very slow machine. It is caused by memory leaks on the server. They will be fixed with the new release.

Edit: just run in openGL mode if you want to play.

Well, there arin\'t that much leaks server side.
Nor is it really any lag

That \'lag\' is graphic engine slowdown which results in lower FPS (or SPF).

The slowdown is caused by several things:
1. The engine as it is compiled in MB is very little optimized
2. The client has memory leaks
