before i start this subject i just want to say that alot of these posts in general chat are not talking anything about planeshift the GAME.
On with the post.
As many of you know prices may be a problem for people that are poor.So what i was thing is not to get prices that high. But to acctualy raise strength/level requirement for items
ex.Long sword regular (100 blah blah i dont know the money thing yet =\\)5 strenght requirement
ex2. long sword (added titanium 200 blah blah)20 strenght requirement
level 5 to wear
i know that money will be a problem ..in many games it is.for example runescape.32 thousand gold for a sword that adds 2 more damage than a battle axe that costs 4 thousand gold.THATS INSANE!
so what ya think?

I dont know how great level requirements and stat requirements would be.. When you level up in the game, I dont think you will be adding stats into your attributes (from what I see from the game) I think you pick your stats when you create your character and your armor upgrades your stats and when you levelup you become stronger in general and your attacking/defending skills go up along with all the other skills you get... I think money is a problem if people don\'t work for their money, hunting, having a job, doing quests is all ways for people to get money. Dont expect to get such great equipment unless you do have the money or a high enough character to get this \"great\" gear. Great gear isn\'t meant to be easy to get or else it wouldn\'t be so great if you know what I mean ;).

One more thing we must look on is instead of looking what the weapon does for damage and such things, value the prize after the materials and time invested in the making of the weapon (quality).
The prizing of the weapon is also based on it\'s availability and the cost of the materials are based upon it\'s rarity and since we live in a underground world it\'s not the same as on the surface.
The first thing we must think of is that tree is a extremly rare material and it\'s not used in common things and I would say never in such a large thing as a house.
The second is that there are a greater availibility for metals and a greater range of them.
Therefore Iron and maybe steel if the civilization is that advanced, overall their metal working and stonecutting abilities should be pretty advanced, but woodworkings would be nearly non-existant, carriages would if created in iron be too heavy to pull and therefore there aren\'t much of those either.
Axes would probably only exist in the executioner axe style, and those axes are too heavy and unbalanced (for fighting) to be used as any other thing than execution axes.
The axe was probably invented for treecuting and because of the wood involved in making it, it would never be be economically defendable to produce them and if you should make them completly out of iron or steel they would be very heavy and unbalanced, making them suitable for execution and the little treecutting that exist.
The highest job a gardener could have would probably be just treecaring, to be given this job you would probably be considered as a thrustworthy and decent character and you would be managing the plantation of new tree and the amount who would be cut down.
Meat would probably also be pretty unusal and only be scavenged from animals and monsters in the stonelabyrinth since domesticated animals take too much place that could be used as fields.
Potatoes would probably be the most planted crop since they can feed a great many people and it won\'t get spoiled if an army marches through a field.

I\'d like to point out that the previous poster, while having very creative thoughts, is not a developer on the project and actually has no firsthand knowledge of which materials are scarce or whatever. All of his info in that post is pure speculation, most of which I have *never* heard mentioned in actual developer discussions. We simply don\'t know how the pricing is going to work or which materials are scarce because we haven\'t thought about it yet.
To Tearlach, you seem to have interesting ideas about the world of Yliakum. I would suggest you talk to someone in the Settings group if you would like to have input on what the world is like.

Magma, sounds like you want another Runesc... And Me or none of these other people do
-
I have actually asked to become member of the settings department twice but didn\'t even get a \'no\' so I see it as wasted time till I come up with something that makes you say: we want you.
All I wrote in my former post is based upon rational thinking and what the development team has said, like: there won\'t be so many (or big I presume) forests.
One more thing, since we are underground, there would probably be pretty much gold, and it would probably be very easy to acces and since gold isn\'t that usefull (except for jewelry) it would probably be very cheap.
And tree would probably replace diamonds as the most valuable thing.

Well, gold isnt everywhere under the ground.
So it could still be rare.
There are no trees ?
I hope there are other plants , else there wont be enough oxygen ;(
