Post by: Davan Firzata on April 23, 2004, 12:57:08 am
Does planeshift work with the PPC version of Linux as well? Or just the pentium/athlaton version?

*goes check on the http://packages.gentoo.org*

if you install it from source it should run pretty nicely (not sure about the binary) ...good luck with compiling :]

what distro are you running?

IIRC, there were still some endianness-related bugs in MB which interfere with correct PPC<->x86 operation.  I believe that was one of the key reasons why a Mac client for MB was impractical.  Still might be worth a try though...

Honestly , if you have some skills in programming it  would be better to try compile the latest CVS version of planeshift, and see if you can help to get it works on ppc.
Well perhaps give a try to the MB version before. But i really think than now anyone that try to compile PlaneShift  on some exotic syteme should try to compile the latest cvs , and see if he can spot any specific bug related  to him.
This way when the CrystalBlue will be out , it will have mutch more chances to work on your system. Also the devs will be more willing to help you if you work on the devellopement version and report bug related to it.

Here is a guide for compiling linux, it doesn t cover mac install throught , perhaps there s some note about it in a readme or install file , but i dont really knows.

Also be sure to join the IRC #planeshift channel in the freenode server, it s te place where devellopers hangs , and there s almost all the time a devellopper here, so it s mutch more fast and easy to get help here. If for some reason there is no one , there s the devellopement liberation section in the planeshift forums.
