In most games I\'ve played, the view when you\'re inside a building is really annoying. This is true for MB too.
The camera is usually too \'zoomed in\', and shows a view that is too narrow. And it\'s absolutely impossible to use 3rd person \'above shoulders\' view, wich is actually comfortable while outside, wich means you have to switch views all the time.
The only solution I can find for this problem is a cut view (like in platform games). Yeah, I know it sounds stupid, I doubt it\'ll be implemented, but let\'s see your ideas.
There is another way, that keeps the 3d, and is more or less ok. The view will still be 1st person \\ above shoulders, but you won\'t be able to actually move the character.
Let\'s say there\'s a hall, with doors. You stand in one place, you can rotate the view to see all sides of the hall, but you can\'t move the char. To go through one of the doors you click it, and there\'s a sequence showing the char walking there and getting into the room.
This idea might be troublesome with more than one player in the same room, but it\'s probebly solveable.
These two ideas aren\'t that good, I know, so just post any better idea.
Maybe changing the cam specs could help, I\'m not sure.

I really don\'t see what the problem is....
When you are inside in real life, your view is much more restricted than outside. You can\'t see through the walls, either.
How about using 1st person view all the time? I\'m comfortable with it.
-
1st person view isn\'t that comfortable inside houses either... Try walking in the tavern, you keep bumping into walls and stuff, it\'s pretty annoying.
To solve it, either the view should be changed, or the houses should be big with wide halls, but that will just take more space.
-
I agree its a little narrow but I am sure I can deal with it :]

Well, I think you shouldn\'t drink that much. :D

Seriously... Try walking up the stairs, and go into that room with the shelves, than go out of it, and into the kitchen. When you go through the doors you bump into the sides, when you try to go to the kitchen it\'s hard not to accidently fall through the stairs, and then while going to the kitchen you bump the sides of the door again.
And now try to do it while running : \\
IRL we can walk blindfolded inside a building without bumping into walls because we can \'feel\' them, not even by touching, you just know that the wall is there.
But in a game you can\'t feel that, you can\'t locate yourself in the darkness.
The tavern isn\'t dark, true, but it\'s hard to locate yourself in it with such a narrow view, and such narrow passages.

3rd person view must go away!
Just 1st person only, that would be cool when there thieves, pocket picking would go easier :)
-
Yeah, just stick with first person view..... its more realistic anyway.
-
I disagree. Seeing things from first person is not very realistic since our eyes are spherical so it allows us to see things slightly behind us as fell as in front of us. So the camera should be curved (Which would look a bit freaky on screen) if you\'re going for realism.
I personally prefer 3rd person view, since it sets my mind to telling a good story while RPing (i.e. When describing actions I don\'t say *I walk to the door* but *Karakth walks to the door*. Even my text is third person ^^ ).

i kinda get along with our camera system, but if you think it\'s such a huge problem inside houses, i suggest a more agressive approach:
fixed cameras inside (maybe just as one of the camera options) ...there\'s fixed cameras placed in the building on good spots, and they change when automatically when needed - this way you don\'t need to do anything as a player to get the camera working good but it\'s up to the devs to find good spots for these cameras and make the switching good.
oh, and i usually turn the camera to first-person when i get insode buildings ;)
-
The problem with fixed cameras is that when the switch between one camera to another happens, you get kinda confused.
I switch to 1st person when I go into the tavern too, but it\'s still hard to walk there.
Now that I think of it, it might be easier to walk there in \'above shoulders\' view, if only it wouldn\'t go through the walls

I dont see whats wrong with how it is now, and when CB comes out, maneuvering will be alot easier. (You can tell from the movie...)
