Title: All Sword look the same but what about a cristal sword, hein

Post by: Icefalcon on May 08, 2004, 10:50:32 pm: OK, the model looks pretty good for the most part, but I think most of us like a little realism mixed in with our fantasy. Make the end come to one thicker point. Those thingys at the end would snap off easily against tough-hide monsters...

Also, I cant really tell, but does the edges even come to a point? They look blunt... not a very practicle weapon. Sorry for the complaints :rolleyes: But I would like it malot more if those things were changed

Yeah, something like that...but make it broader too, (the diamond cutout smaller).

Post by: Cyrandir on May 09, 2004, 08:42:30 am: on that note maybe you could try flipping the entire blade end for end and putting the two points into the outsides of the crossguard and a long point on the end? then the cutout would be triangular-shaped along the crossguard and the inside of the blade.... yeah! that might work....

azure crystal swords for maximum damage on darkness creatures
fire/ruby? crystals swords for maximum damage on ice creatures etc etc
think of the possiblities! you could even have hybrid swords

Post by: Zeraph on May 09, 2004, 02:38:51 pm: It looks like it could pass through physical matter, but cut away @ the soul/spirit of your enemy. Sometimes this would be more effective. The blade could be a representation of it. & besides, I think the first one looks a whole lot nicer?

Post by: Cyrandir on May 10, 2004, 12:19:25 am: Xelex you don\'t know what you\'re talking about!! the point of those \"branches\" is to slide into a person and then get caught and tear flesh as you pull it out, or to break other weapons that get caught in it. By having a straight edge on the end you get a heavy point and you get a slashing edge so this sword would be good for piercing and slashing. It\'s a good design as it is.

Post by: Cyrandir on May 11, 2004, 12:59:05 am: still needs a lot of help with the grip... maybe a wrapped texture for the actual grip (leather or wire), and a pommel decoration of some sort, and something for the crossgueard (runes, etc.) The blade looks great though.

Imagine the sword that has been posted but in the style I have mentioned. Try not to associate my image with the finished product to much. My example was a bit to extreme. I just exagerated it so people would get what I meant easily. I still think it would look cool if the handle end was inverted. Not to the degree in my sketch though.

only thing you could do with it is stab something, but that would be hard too... it wouldn\'t pass armour... \'tis too... roundy...
and even if you\'d somehow manage to stab someone, it\'s shaped the way that getting the sword out of body would be hard as well and would give enough time for someone else to put you to rest...
not to mention the spikes at hilt that would hurt wielder.
none the less... I want an Emerald Sword ;)

The shape looks more triangular to me. Which would infact give it 3 cutting sides. The jagged edges also start just above half way. So as long as the sword wasnt pushed to the hilt it wouldnt be to hard to withdraw it from the person you impailed.
