Tyger. . .Rudy doesn\'t know. He has 3 papers he has to do tonight. I wish I could, at least learn it or something, but I got final stuff to do too. Know what would be cool. If there was an \"online\" DnD game going, maybe on a forum or something...and everyone filled out their character sheets and played...maybe there is a site like that...but it be really cool. (not a MUD game)

(oldeeeee news): \"Atari has announced that it\'s joined hands with developer Turbine Entertainment to bring Dungeons & Dragons into the MMORPG world. Turbine, which has Asheron\'s Call and Asheron\'s Call 2 under its belt, is also working on Middle Earth Online.\"
But an online pen and paper adventure could be cool, even though it won\'t be as advanced as the above mentioned :)

well you can always gather some people and play it by irc or http://openrpg.com
-
or ICQ or something, maybe a forum. I think it would be fun, if the right way to play it was thought of.
-
well ICQ would be pain... forums too slow...
played with Aendar, Aelya, Sep, Sangwa and lynx by irc but you need to make dice rolling script... in openrpg everything\'s ready.
-
I think it would be fun to make a character sheet, does anyone here have a nice character. . .like a good level? I\'m thinking about making one.
-
LOL I DM all the time... i\'ve got a great group of players.... *sigh* I love D&D.... but only 2nd ed. you 3rd and 3.5 people are pathetic ;)
-
hey man, from now on threads like this go in hydlaa plaza, or better yet, since this was to me, pm me. no big deal since you\'re new, but remember that for the future.
thanks for askin rudy bout that man, tell him I understand the final\'s rush. I\'m just gettin over it myself. do either of you live here in town outside of classes man?
-
hey cyr, I know what you mean, I only 3e cause everyone I know plays 3e. I used to have all the old 2nd ed books till my brother stole them. he\'s real bad about that....
-
Nor problem dude! Nah, Rudy and I both live in St. Louis. It would be cool if we lived close. I think Rudy might possibly be moving to Japan over the summer, to follow his Girlfriend, but I don\'t know for sure. Anyways, we\'ll keep in contact, and if either of us come down or up we\'ll let each other know.
-
Well currently Lynx, Seperot, Sangwa, and myself are doinf a WFRP in IRC. Gmed by Gronomist. We are planning on having other sessions and perhaps other rulesets as well.
PS. Coheed if you need to ask Tygerwilde a question or tell him something use PMs. The forums are for discussing with the community not one-on-one convos.

Have you considered Neverwinter Nights?

NWN is as close to D&D online as you can get, the hundreds of PW\'s people set up are a little stupid unless you find a good one (most are uber power servers or servers with overly tough hardcore rules coded in wih often rather lack luster areas).
But if you have a DM that has a good imagination and writeing as well as a bit of codeing skill, then a small private (ie traditional) D&D session in NWN is very enjoyable. Expanding a campaign in such private games is very easy as well since the DM can add new areas over the days your not playing and the next session you can get right into it with out any need to download anything (sept for any community made content HAK\'s that the DM might decide to include).
Im an old 1st edition player from the mid-late 80\'s , sort of left the scene around 2nd editions introduction and came back recently when i got into NWN (primaryily for the neat CC aspect of the game). 3rd edition or should i say 3.5 edition :P is and can be kinda off putting to old school players but once you look at the system and play it a bit I assure you its atualy pretty good. You can still make it as flexable as the older editions, its just alot more structured rule wise as well as a little less rigid class wise compared to the others.

You know, as much as I should probably keep my mouth shut...
I\'ve never really liked the game mechanics of D&D. I\'d certainly agree that a good DM and players can make any system enjoyable (after all, these games are supposed to be about RP, not rules, right?), I just always preferred systems like EarthDawn or ShadowRun. I don\'t suppose anyone\'s played these? ;)
Anyway, I\'ve heard GURPS is a good... uh... whatever it is that GURPS is considered. Mage (or heck, anything by White Wolf) is interesting to me, from a creativity point of view. I take it D&D is the favorite around here as far as pencil and paper goes?
I guess this is a potential flame war subject, but I\'m just curious. Anyway, time to go prepare for my ShadowRun session tonight. ;) Plot suggestions would be appreciated as well.

There were lots of other RPGs as well - Rolemaster, Runequest and Traveler are some good examples. Its just that D&D was the original. I started playing it around \'79 and it certainly holds a special place in my heart.
-
ShadowRun and EarthDawn are still being supported?
Did\'nt think Wizards of the Coast continued those lines after they bought out TSR?.
Not that that stops you playing it if you have the old manuals and those willing to play it :P
If you want a realy interesting setting you should look into the SpellJammer series, its kinda odd but pretty original. Unfortuanatly it to was one of the ones ditched around the time TSR collapsed. Although ive read some where that its rumoured it and a few other old TSR campaign settings might be getting a re-release sometime.

ech, after wizards bought shadowrun they made it into a disgusting figure game, like wizkids mage knight series. how sad and pathetic. I see the figures in the store and want to hurt someone for damaging my favorite tabletops image.
mage knight is a decent game, but not every series was meant to follow in the footsteps!!!

I never had a problem with any of the editions of D&D. I actually like some of the rules in the third. I grew up on D&D and RIFTS. It has a lot to do with GMs I think. The better your GM the better your world will be. Some of the things we did with our GM would never have been allowed by others. ?I?m sorry you can?t do that. Its not in the book?? BAH!

We don\'t flame people who take the time to make insightful posts here Null_void. That was a good post humbly stating your own opinion so you aren\'t in any danger whatsoever. I haven\'t seen any of your other posts yet but from this one you seem to be a person who will fit in well here.
Welcome to the planeshift message boards!

Welcome to the planeshift message boards!
Thank you. :) I\'ve been read more than I post, as I usually can\'t think of anything useful to say that hasn\'t been said already. I find the game quite enjoyable and would like to contribute, though I figure it would be a good idea to acutally look through the source some to make sure I can handle it first.
I\'ve been quite impressed by the friendliness of the folks around here, in my rather limited stay so far (since October last year or so, for the game. A bit later for the boards, I believe). So a big \"thanks\" to all the people who make this a good place to be.
