Pffff....Why so many Guilds at this stadium of the game...like u have anny new rights or something....
Why do you ppl make so many guilds??
-
because people have this need to lead something... :P
or maybe because if you wait \'till CB, someone else could take your idea
or most likely because this way you have well organised guild at the beginning of CB and can play it instead of working on guild...
-
And they have something to do while waiting for CB coming out like organizing the guild, threatening other guilds.
There was btw a pretty cool guild, the dutch troll squad, unfortunately it was assimilated by the cabal :(

Seriously, i think the main reason is that the only thing you can do currently is guild stuff. Spies, leading, disbanding and stuff is the only fun things you can do right now. (yes, i really mean spies are fun imho - but because i or YOU think they are fun is not a reason to spoil the fun of others by causing disbands of well organized guilds).
-
1) Its fun
2) Helps build friendships with new people
3) Guild Roleplaying
4) Helps pass the time waiting for next release
These are just some of the reasons to join a guild or start one and if you got your act together, you can make a really good guild! Nothing wrong with lots of guilds, nothing at all..so why ask the question?
-
what depth said...
*me grumbles as he marvels at the stupidity of some people*
-
there are a lot of them though its kinda daunting to wade through all that info to find the guild for you.

Well, I suppose a stadium is kinda like a stage. :P
Seriously, what the others said: we\'re bored.
...and ya know, you can meet people and make friends as well.
-
The problem is that there aren\'t really any recruitable people, all of them are already in a guild.

Dunno about anyone else but if someone thought that looking at a bunch of websites was too much work they wouldn\'t gain access to my guild...

Actually if you consider the fact that there are over 150,000 registered chars in game and thousands registered on the forums as well and only 20 or so official guilds there is a pretty large target audience for recruiters. Though of course not all those who registered are active.

Ok, there are enough people that can be recruited, but most (if not all) don\'t worth being recruited, whether it\'s inactiveness, n00bism, or whatever.
-
I just don\'t understand why there is always that comment, oh another new guild *hmph* see how long they last, or the one made on this thread asking why so many? Does it matter really? They are trying to advance the community and start something that will quite possible include other people and entertain us with their disputes and celebrations! If you have a problem with guilds just stay away from them and be a freelancer simple as that, don\'t come on here questioning our motives in PlaneShift!
-
Yuh. And then there\'s the game of guilds, which is a vast web of politics that everybody who\'s anybody (Well ok, not everybody, but most) is entangeled in. \'Tis the intrigue that makes it so intriguing.
-
There are a lot of guilds because its cool to be around that share at least some of the same ideals as you do. Also it\'s good to have people you can count on (hopefully). And...think of a guild as a big brother. If you need help hopefully and most likely they\'ll help you out.
But if your a freelancer (which I\'m not implying you are, but just stating) then you won\'t have much back-up for what you are doing.
Another reason, most of the majority of the people who been here a long time, do belong to guilds, so most likely when you join a guild there\'d be someone who knows there way around Planeshift.

Yes, how many registered on the forums have <5 posts? that brings the number down to...400? And those who are actually active in discussions? 100...those in a guild? 90...
Yes I do think that there are not very many people to recruit.
There are alot of people who are very active in-game, but have never visited the forums for various reasons, so they don\'t even know about all these guilds. I know of one guild in-game that is pretty big but doesn\'t have a site set up and never visits the forum...the Black Rose? or something like that. I met the leader last night and she told me about her all-female guild...interesting concept. But thats besides the point...
-
Pshawww, lots of people to recruit out there!
We all know how much experience the Blitzers have in recruiting 8).
I mean even ask Aendar..
When he first re-started his guild, he was shouting shameless plugs in order to entice people to join his guild... and it got off the ground pretty well.
-
all female... (Homer Simpson drool)

Ok the only reason I did so often was because if I didn\'t
Fen would get all antsy and start asking why I wasn\'t advertising :P
But yes, there are plenty of people in-game as well to recruit.

Since when does post count determine whether or not they will join a guild? I have members in my guild that rarely ever post on the PS forums if at all. If they join and browse through the guilds and one catches their eye, they join. It doesn\'t matter if they are only at the PS forums for a day. And guests can view the guilds lists as well so they don\'t even need to join the forums in order to join the guild.
-
Exactly I have maybe two - three members that HAVE posted on the PS forums but are rarely active, but they are active 24/7 on various msgners with each other and myself!
-
yes, and there is that thing, \"ingame\" where guilds are actually created... it has very little to do with posting on forums -_-

I just worried you might be sick, you did use it often :P
-
@ thread starter: a simpler reason is that cabal hasent really started its engine of destruction !
:P J/k
guess all the reasons are said
-
ao\'s active, jsut more on our own threads and in irc, in fact our irthday is coming up here in a month :D
-
I think havign lots of guilds in the game is really good, thats the part of MMORPGs i like most, in normal games i can hack and slash, but in an MMORPG, i can do whatever i want in the game its so free, and i can get together with my friends and we can have a guild and play as a team, its \"massively multiplayer\" after all
-
No shii Midnight .. :)
All I see first is a punch of wannabe guildmasters. The ones who think themselves are high enough to fit the leadership role...well we all have seen guilds come and gone... soon we see the ones who trully are worthy to stay.. (new guild is not bad ..it will be gone soon anyway)
-
I just like to wander around the game world allone, and explore the world, and meet some friends, and later join a guild and have party\'s and that stuff ^^
-
I was \"forced\" into the role myself. I never intended to be a guildmaster when I came to PS, or afterwards. A series of events put me there. I\'ve found myself in that situation before. I don\'t view myself as a good leader actually, I\'m much more of a follower, somebody\'s \"right hand man\". I think it shows. Nobody else wanted to lead, so I volunteered. *shrugs* My guild\'s still alive though, so I can\'t be that bad. :P
-
Yeah right hand man is the best position there is.
And if you look through the guilds one that you like is often hard to find. One half of the guilds are almost exactly the same quite a few others are nothing outstanding, another one is all elves and everybody knows enkies are the best so that really only leaves the Cabal....Although the mercenary guild is pretty cool
