I look everyday for Crystal Blue to go live. I am pretty anxious to see if Klyros made it in. When... when will CB go live? Anyone know anything about the current state of affairs concerning the release for CB?
-
no i dont think any1 knows. also, i think you should prepare for massive flaming and insults.
-
No Klyros in main CB release, possible patch whenever the models are done for it.
As for the release we are making pretty good progress. We are now in the process of working on the big 3 systems to fix up the problems so we can release:
1) Combat
2) Magic
3) Trades/Crafting.
We know there are several problems in each system that we have to fix before we can have \'general testing\' by people.
BlueCommand has done good work on the updater and we will be doing more inhouse testing soon. Once that is done we will either invite more people to \'testing sessions\' or just release the thing and see where it goes. As for a time line I have no idea. It will depend on what sorts of problems we encounter when we hit each system.
-
That sounds like very soon! ;)
Can you confirm one thing for me? I\'ve heard that Crystal Blue should port easily over to the Mac and that therefore the PC and Mac version will be released within days, if not simultaneously... Is this true?

This question has been asked before. Apparently it\'s not that hard to port to Mac, the devs just need someone with sufficient knowledge about Macs and programming to do it, and they haven\'t found such a person yet.
p.s. if there will be any \'inviting more people to testing sessions\', I say: pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaase! ;)
-
is there a list of the models that will be included in the CB release???

i have ear that mac os 10 is compliant with linux ....
have you try the linux release .
Maybe you can run a linux for mac (debian or mandrake for power pc) (maybe a linux distrib run from mac os if you don\'t want make a dual boot as some linux ditrib you can run from windows) and then use the linux verssion of planetshit .
just an idee
here theire is a beta of knoppix for mac that you can boot directly from the cd and then use the linux planetshift release.
http://debian.tu-bs.de/knoppix/powerPC/
of course you must recompile the planetshift source code for powerpc cpu.
have a nice day
-
Ooh, can I go kick its face in? Or rub his scrungy little face on hot asphalt? Or maybe cut out his eyes and feed them to the dogs?!?!?:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:
-
Sounds like it is coming out? It sounded like it was coming out awhile ago and awhile before that, your better off just not getting your hopes up for a release and continue to check in once in awhile.
-
Beware the teddybear creature for its deceptive cuteness will devour thy soul o.o
-
I hope that it won\'t be like RO where the main rule is \"THe smaller and less aggresive the creature looks, its definatly more powerful\" That Teddy monster better be weak.
-
What about a general development anouncement thread in the development section instead of having to answer such questions all over the place?
Perhaps the public relations manager could update it as he gets information from the programmers?
-
It will have furry teddy monsters that eat your face
AAAUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
*beats the incredible cuteness with the n00byclub*
OMG it\'s not working!!!!
-
Awesome Acraig and thank you.
I can\'t wait to try it out.
Good luck.

That is from the TreeCastle project isn\'t it?
Maybe it won\'t be ingame before the treecastle?

Must....kill....teddy....bear!
Hey is planeshift gonna have blood?
-
lol ya its from the tc ppl and im not sure we will be using it at all so dont expect to see it in planeshift, especially as it stands =)
-
And it it does get used, touch it at your own risk. It\'s claws and teeth will rip ye all apart. :D
-
lol if that thing killed me I would be laughing to hard to care.
-
it looks scary with its big black eyes and stuff...:o
-
Hehehe yeah, that\'s not in CB, I just put it up as a joke. Next I\'m gonna try an\' get it to hold weapons
-
that would be like ACs white rabbit. level 666 white rabbit kills damn near everything it meets. I died valiently on the rabbit hunt. I believe it was a tribute to Monty Python.
-
ummm... I got one question, will combat be turn-based, or real time?

i hope they got something original but something oldschool would be cool.

erm this would be very hard because it would mean if there was a fight everything would have to go turn based and therefore making every1 else move slowly, wouldnt it?
so im guessing it wouldnt happen
-
I don\'t think it would make things go slowly per say. Because if it was turn based, wouldn\'t it be based on one of your characters attributes as to how often and how fast you get to attack?
So kinda like player x has 31 dex and player y has 35 dex. Player x would get initiative on the players side.
In table top RPing. (d20 style) Initiative is done like this... Each combatant (Player and Enemy alike) has a modifier according to how high their Dex is.
Each combatant roles a 6 sided die and adds his/her modifier to the role.
Each combatant takes his/her turn according to the total initiative score (1d6 plus modifier)
I don\'t see why you wouldn\'t be able to convert a system like that into a video game, BUT I know next to nothing about designing video game engines or even programming on an existing engine, so.... /shrugs
-
Hi, Kryogenic, many computer games already use tabletop D&D systems like this. Neverwinter Nights is the most notable example (because I can\'t think of any others right now! :D).
-
It\'s realtime.

Treecastle:
-Mirthin-
Common Features:
Mirthins are a furry (maybe even fuzzy) race of plant-loving creatures. They\'re of small figure, with large ears and eyes. One of the interesting facts about this intriguing race is that their origins are actually very much different from their current peaceful farmers. The Mirthins were divided into tribes which were constantly at war between eachother and with all other creatures in this realm. They were great hunters and developped very interesting techniques of fighting with their prefered weapon being a simple stick. These techniques they still train nowadays and sometimes practise for hunting - not very often though, since their contemporary diet consists mainly of plants and bugs. But in time of need they are still very capable fighters. Some individuals have even joined the Guard to aid with scouting.
------------------
Nonetheless I can\'t wait to kick some teddy bear arse. Or kick arse with teddy bears. LOL(Wahhh, mommy, I got killed by a teddy bear)
-
that could work, people would think it was a cute little teddy, then it tears out their jugular. BRAVO!
-
before I hunt one, I\'d ask the devs to implement a holy hand grenade. Duke Nukem had them, why not ps?

**No Klyros in main CB release, possible patch whenever the models are done for it.***
ARRRRRHGGGGHHHH! No Klyros :( *bangs head on table repeatily* The only creature i want to be in CB and it\'s not going to be available! Why has god/devs forsakened me!
*runs off crying*
*runs back in*
If i start a character when CB comes out and decide to to be a Klyros when the models are done and a patch is released, can i have a klyros replacement of my current character?
Or am i doomed to have to start saving rubies from the beginning again?
-

Definitely that one, with one exception, CB is supposed to have money not crystals isn\'t it?
-
You get multiple characters in CB, and it\'s likely you could arrange to transfer your goods from one character to the other somehow.
-
Hey Wedge how do you know so much about CB? Is there a link to a run down of what all will be different, and what will be new?
Or did you get all your info from the main site and the forums?
-
Much of the information we have is based on occasional comments dropped on the forum. As far as I know, there is no comprehensive \"what is gonna be in CB\" page, since they won\'t know till it\'s done :)
-
You can always read this page:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/planeshift/planeshift/docs/history.txt?view=auto (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/planeshift/planeshift/docs/history.txt?view=auto)
This\'ll tell you roughly what you\'re gonna be able to do.

\"*** 2004-05-19 by Andrew Dai - Integration of Paladin Jr into the server, the y dimension is currently not implemented since jump DR data is NOT sent.\"
The world sure seems flat today. O.o
-
LOL. Yeah that about sums up it up. I can\'t make heads or tails outa that stuff.
-
PaladinJr is the early implemenation of the server buddy that will attempt to monitor players for illegal (cheating) behaviours. I think that just means it isn\'t checking if people are using jump hacks or something.
-
So, if people wanted to make a hack where they could jump on top of a really tall mountain to escape from monsters and refresh themselves or something else that involves jumping, then they wouldn\'t get caught? Bah; let all hacking jumpers live in a plastic bubble. :]
EDIT: Guess what? It is almost 5am and I had typos....

I just *HOPE* that CB will come out sometime before the end of June. Ill be depressed if it doesn\'t come out during summer vacation, and just plain pissed if it comes out they day I have to go back to school.

/me takes notes
Muhahahhaha
What? Who\'s spamming?
-
cool stuff:
- added collision detection system to the engine and the player.
- Fixed one error with combat. The target was not registering as an
iDisconnector so if the target quit in the middle of combat it would
crash the server.
- Fixed GM GUI for new access levels
- Added Invisible button on GM GUI
- Added Kill Player button on GM GUI
- Added Unmute player button on GM GUI
- Added Move player Up / Down button on GM GUI
- GM GUI now doesn\'t request player list directly when loading all windows
- GMs level 4 can make themselves invisible by /invisible and /visible commands
- Implemented /npc command - GMs can create NPCs.
(GM = Game master I think)
- removed old particle based spell effects from the client in preparation
for moving effects to common and beginning the effect editor
- Added server logging to pickups/drops and looting.
- Fixed an error in the info message on looting rolls.
- Added a spire and explosion effect obj, (explosion is buggy atm)
- Spells can be marked as \"offensive\" in DB. Casting of such spells is checked against PvP rules.
- Fixed trade skills bugs. Skills are now being practiced and quality assigned to resulting item.
Also garbage items will now be created when item quality is zero.
