Slipknot is an example of how you can gain success by appealing to young people\'s problems, by agressive stageshows.. Also an example of how not to make a band, more a group of clowns.

If you\'re a true metal head, you\'ll stay clear of Slipknot.

That does not, however, make them any less \"nu-metal\".. If I were to give you a piece of advice, it wouldn\'t just be \"stay away from Slipknot\" it would be Stay away from nu-metal!!

The quality of the music produced in that sector is the closest you can get to modern pop music.. it has taken over from rock when regarding genres that previously appealed to the soft \"rebellion\" in the average young person.. It hasn\'t got any real factors of quality, it\'s often repetitive and tedious. In short, it sucks!

SoaD is one of the good examples from day 1, the first album is still a little chaotic and embryonic, but has potential and definately is very different compared to modern made-up-all-recycle-pop-music.

Post by: Half_Pint on June 16, 2004, 10:47:49 pm: I can\'t stand any of the really heavy rock that some bands are coming out with these days, but I do like SoCal Punk. (Bands like Green Day, Sum41, Simple Plan, etc.)

Some of my favourite music is \"oldies\" stuff like the Beatles, Neil Young, and other classic rock. All the music that I like has an actual Melody and Tune. I don\'t hear much of that in a lot of newer songs, but that\'s what I look for when I listen to music. That\'s why I don\'t think much of a lot of these \"new-metal\" bands.

all those crappy nu-metal and new punk rock bands owe their existence to MTV.. crap channel numero uno..

of course it\'s a matter of taste what you like, but liking a band because of the fact that it actually writes music for the sake of music, and not just to earn money off ignorant teens, is so much more rewarding than jumping the wave and be like all the others..

And so what if Slipknot writes about their own sad problems? they still appeal to you, they still suck, and no one seems to notice that the whole idea behind them is so extremely clich?.. Sure, there\'s no one exactly like them, but they\'re still all alike, grounded the fact that they make music to earn money, not to achieve cult status or anything like that.

My oppinion is, thankfully, shared by the millions of others who have seen the light and walked the true path..

I\'m not really comparing the genres, I\'m telling you that the genre Nu-metal sucks in general.. I\'ll concede to the point that not all bands suck equally, there are different degrees of crappy music, but in general, it sucks..

I can, and will continue debating this untill the end of the world, since metal is a great genre that doesn\'t need it\'s name polluted by crappy music like the stuff most nu-metal bands mass produce nowadays..

Some of the links say you look like fred durst and say \"Shaznit\" on a daily basis..

There are lots of equally funny links out there regarding my style of music, I\'m sure you\'re bright enough to go find some rules for Death, Doom and Black-metal and you can have a laugh at me.. I\'m not like the stereotypal people described there either, but I still find it funny..
