If you go to planeshift home page, you go to Settings, and then to Races, you can see info about all the races. Ok.
The question is:
If for example I choose the race Xacha, it says they got ST +1 EN +1 AG +1 IN +2 WI +2 CH +1. This are the stats they win each lvl up? Or what mean this stats exactly?
-
no one really knows, but i think thats the stats on creation sincer there are no \"levels\"
-
These are added to your stats after creation.
-
Then, there isn\'t a big difference between a lemur and a kran. In some lvls, the 6 different points from char creation will be nothing. The stats that a lemur win when he lvl up are the same than the points that a kran win? Or you can choose in what stat add points each lvl?
-
There are no levels, and you don\'t add extra stat points. PS uses skills, not levels.
-
There will be no levels in Planeshift, so no you will not be able to distribute points. To get better in a certain stat, you have to train it. In the overal scheme of things, a few points at the beginning wont mean to much difference, but there will always be differences from a Lemur and a Kran due to natural abilities.
eg) Lemur: max 8th rank for weapons and armors
Kran: Limit 8th rank for magic. Limit 8th rank for thief abilities and martial arts
etc...
So as you can see, while you could make a Lemur fighter and a Kran mage, eventually they would top out and not be as powerful as other races in those disciplines. Other differences too.. but I\'m too lazy to list them all ;)
-
is that factual ghost? it would seem more resonable that it\'d just be stunted growth.
-
What do you mean by stunted growth?
Anyways, all of the games that I have seen using a skill based system, you have to use that skill in order for it to increase, or get training of some sort (again specifically for that skill). Pretty sure I\'ve read the system in PS will be similar/same.
-
so does this meen that by using an axe your strength will gradually increase or with every 5 axe levels you get a stat point to destribute?
-
Nah, the whole thing would be kinda transparent.
Let\'s say you\'re a lumberjack, each day you chop wood to get a living, what stat will increase? Not charisma, strength!
If you use an axe all the time, your skill in using an axe will go up, and you will, let\'s say work faster
If you go to use a saw instead, and use it quite long, you will forget some axe skill because you haven\'t practised it.
Not really levels were you can add charisma or agility points for killing mosters/choping wood
Reserved for future correction, not a single bit of the information may be right, but I sure hope so

Then, there are many races, like Dermorians, that haven\'t got any bad point, got Nightvision and can got the highest rank in all the skills. They are perfect, at least much better than Kran or Lemurs, that have bad points. Some races better than others, isn\'t a problem?
-
I don\'t think it would be a problem. If someone wanted to be a Mage/Wizard, they shouldn\'t be a Kran, but instead a Lemur or something else that is good in magic. If you wanna be a power fighter, be a Kran or Dwarf, as they have a lot of strength. Wanna do it all? Be one of the Humans because they can do both average. :)

If you look closer, you see that everyone with serious disadvantages has a packet of serious advantages. In general some races are better for one set of purposes, but worse for other set.

Right, for example, Lemur:
They do have the disadvantage: max 8th rank for weapons and armors
But they also get: gain 1 bonus rank in each of the four elemental Ways. +4 Mana Points at creation
So, if you were planning to play a pure magic-user, this will give you a major jump ahead of others who are a different race and striving to do the same thing...sure, they might eventually catch up, but if your not going to be a fighter anyways why not make it easier at the beginning?
And, as far as I know from all the discussions (what seemed to be well-liked and received, what didn\'t), Androgos should be right.
-
thx a lot for answer my questions ;)
Edit:
But, I was thinking about planeshift and I got 3 new questions.
1- Why Krans got 20 extra points at char creation, and Ynnwns got 40 extra points?
2- At char creation, if I choose Strenght disadvantage, what it does? I start with less Strenght points? Or is harder to me increase strenght points?
3- Exists a list of each Way spells?
If it don\'t exist, when we will know the spells?

Somewhat, but I really doubt it is stable, probably the best answer would be \"wait til CB and see\", that\'s all I can tell ya, as for when that will be, no one knows ...the other two questions I wouldn\'t know, haven\'t seen the character creation screen in a long time, though I would guess the strength disadvantage is there so you can gain an advantage in some other category...unsure which though.
-
Actualy Kiern we do know one spell, healing spell and if that wasnt in there moggie would go crazy ;).

One fun thing is to discover spells by yourself in books or scrolls.
Would you really want a complete list of all spells?
-
yeah its better when you see an amazing spell and go \"omg that spell looks so cool, i want it!\" instead of just going \"oh, thats just fire tornado\"
and being given a complete list of spells is kinda bad in my opinion because it stops people wanting to go out and explore since they can become a know it all in 5 minutes
-
Ok, I didn\'t though about this. May be funner to find the spells in the game ;).
But, what about the other 2 questions?
-
I\'m absolutely sure the Arcane Order will discover all the spells in less than two weeks (after CB is released) :]. So we don\'t need a list right now :D
-
The char creation rules may be obsolete.
Humans get moer points since they\'er more generally adept would be my guess(like in DND).
Just wait and see, when you\'ll make a char all the options you\'ll choose will have explanaions...
-
I\'m just estatic about whatever clever and innovative skill system the devs come up with, then again I\'m estatic about what the splash screen will look like...
I wonder if there will be a stat for being anxious?? :D
