I remember what Planeshift used to be like. Friendships were made, and kept. Friendly and productive rivalries formed, and the group of people who are now known as \'oldbies\' joked and conversed with a positive air. This, I think, is the true meaning of Mirth: Not to eliminate the \'evil\' guilds, but to make a return to the atmospere that was enjoyed when I was a newbie. To create a place where you can do what you like, but in a friendly way. To make people play their roles for the sake of EVERYBODY\'s enjoyment...
To me, that is the spirit of Mirth. :)
Hear ye, O citizens of Yliakum! All who seek to aid the triumph of the Light over the powers of Darkness and Despair, take heed! Let those who have been corrupted by false promises offered by prophets of greed and malice, turn your face once more to the power of Good! ;) Mirth Guild is recruiting again! :)
What is Mirth?
The aim of Mirth Guild is to spread the spirit of our Mirth to all those who will have it, using methods that are as non-violent as possible. We will never provoke a war, nor will we take part in one unless it is absolutely essential for the survival of Mirth or of another member of the Citadel of Light alliance. If your ultimate goal in the world of Planeshift is to be a \"Paladdin of Good\" or some other warrior of the Light, then Mirth is not the guild for you. (You should be looking into joining Defenders, instead. :) ) Mirth is ideal for clerics, healers, travelling entertainers, and all others who spread the joy of life to those they meet. All other professions are permitted to join, however, except for thieves and assassins.
Our History:
The founder of Mirth was the renowned healer and cleric YanRK, an enkidukai who had seen both good and evil in the course of his travels in Yliakum and beyond. Despite the great horrors he witnessed on this journey, he managed to continue to enjoy every moment of his life. The terrible desolation he had seen served merely to fill him more with great joy to be alive, and he decided that his purpose would be to spread that joy, that Mirth, to all those he met.
So YanRK gathered to him many who were likeminded, and together they set out to wander the land and teach others of the joy to be had in nature, in comradeship, and in life. The Mirth Guild grew from these beginnings, and influenced many to regain the happiness that they had been lost among the clutter of daily, dreary tasks that were their lives. The work of Mirth Guild seemed to be a success.
Mirth Guild\'s members thought that they had won, that they had banished sorrow and grief from the land. They rejoiced at the work they had done, and returned to the lives that they had abandoned in their pursuit of Mirth. In this time of complacency, however, the Darkness took the people of Yliakum by storm.
New wanderers travelled to Yliakum throught the catacombs and tunnels through the Great Doors. These were followers of Evil and Misery, and they spread their influence through the great stalactite, until even the life-giving light of the Azure Sun was dimmed to a shadow of its former self. Mirth\'s members were caught unprepared, and many fell victim to the corruption of the newly introduced Evil. Others fell into apathy, and ceased to care about the Mirth for which they had laboured so hard. Only a few, brave believers remained to regain ground against the new evil. They sought others who, like them, remembered the potential for happiness that the world held. Together with the brave knights of good, the Defenders of Yliakum, Mirth Guild\'s remaining members resisted the stagnation and corruption with which Yliakum had been strewn.
Organization:
Mirth is led by 2 leaders and an elected council. Any member of level 3 or higher may make a proposal to the council, but it is ultimately the leaders and the council who decide guild policy. Mirth Guild also has a Constitution, which cannot be changed without the consent of a majority of the guild\'s members.
Under the leaders and the council, the other members are divided into Sections based on their profession. Within each Section are Section Leaders who are masters of their fields, and are responsible for ten members each. Sections that are planned include Merchantilism, Smithing, Healing, and Faith (for clerics.)
Anyone who joins Mirth will be on probation for a week, during which time they will be expected to be active and Mirthful. After this, they will need to take the Mirth Test, and if they pass they will have proved both their abilities, and their belief in the principles of Mirth.
Announcements:
We are pleased to announce that the Chamions of Yliakum have been added to the Citadel of Light Alliance! I am sure they will continue to make us proud to be their allies. :)
Secondly, some wonderful news! Jadd has been kind enough to make Mirth a new web site. :D It can be found at mirthsite.tk (http://mirthsite.tk). Please check out the site, especially the Art section, where you will find the Planeshift comic that Jadd has created. Please give Jadd any feedback you might have on the site via a PM.
EDIT: Jadd is inactive, and will be for some time. Very unfortunate, but the site and comic are on hold for the time being. :(

My friends, we are all alike, so why destroying yourself by fighting each other? It doesn\'t matter what race you belong to, just as long as you feel the Mirth inside you. We don\'t care if you\'re Kran, Ylian, Dermorian or Enkidukai. If you would like to spread joy over Yliakum, then come join us. Join our friendly community, and we will show Yliakum that we\'re strong together. Not with weapons in our hands, but with friendship and happiness.

Life is too precious to be wasted, and killing only leads to misery. We are all bound together, and if you hurt somebody, then you hurt yourself as well. In the same second you take someones life, you have given yourself a wound that will never fully heal.
Why follow that path, when you can as well help less fortunate people, and yourself into a better life?
Friends means so much more than anything else, and I assure you, that you will get plenty of them in Mirth.
Don\'t follow the path of darkness. Let the flood of light show you the way. Only then you will see what life is all about, and I assure you that you will get your reward.

The fortune tellers who annouced the prematured news of Mirth being dead did not watch in the good direction.
There is always a Citadel of light alliance. And the Mirth standed in it, protected by Defenders. The fire was kept warm and the music played far from the noise of this place.
But the time as come again to raise the standarts of Goodness on the citadel and to sound the bells in the still peaceful Yliakum.
Be aware, You who listens to this bells and witness this time: There will always be a shelter for good people and swords to keep away slaves of the evil.

Jadd has agreed to do a very big favor for the Black Order. I am very grateful to him for this. Black Order is now officially friendly with Mirth Guild. Black Order will never make any sort of unprovoked attack against Mirth. Consider this a non-aggression pact.
This will also be announced in the Black Order thread, so everybody knows.

Just a few updates on events in Mirth:
Both Jadd and I have joined the religion of the Followers of Aliathi. This is a peaceful religion, and we believe that it fits Mirth\'s beliefs perfectly. I have joined as a Battlepriest, and Jadd as a Cleric. Many thanks to Mogura for accepting our applications. :)
Meanwhile, Jadd and I have been busy with diplomatic issues. Jadd has agreed to do some work on the Black Order\'s web site, and in return the BO has promised to never attack Mirth unprovoked. This is a non-agression pact. This NAP is a guarantee from the Black Order, and I trust that they will keep their word. 8)
Note: This pact is in no way a first step towards an alliance. Mirth is not considering an alliance with Black Order, at least as long as they are members of the Dark Alliance.
In addition to the pact with Black Order, I have renewed our alliance with the Rangers guild! The Rangers are once more confirmed as our allies, and I am very pleased to have them as such! :D

Many of you might have noticed that mirthsite.tk has had some malplaced and oversized text. The problem is now solved, and it should look normal now.

I am very happy to report that Tinniez, a former member of Mirth, has once more been confirmed as a member of our community. We are very glad to have him back! :)
EDIT: Mirth Guild has passed the War Measures Act, a law to outline how we declare and conduct war. Any prospective member must read this, along with our other laws, before they will be promoted to level 2.

There is one key point of the Act that I think is very important to our Guild and our beliefs. It protects the right of our members to refuse to commit acts of violence.
\"No member of Mirth shall be forced to commit acts of violence, theft, or treachery, regardless of the situation. (including a declared war)\"

As WiseKran has just mentioned, I have been helping out the Rangers of the Expedition with a guild History, Beliefs, etc. I am very pleased to announce that they are Friends of Mirth Guild, and they will be added to our diplomacy list at once. :)
There has been some talk of the Rangers of the Expedition not being \"unique,\" and being too similar to the Explorers Guild. I believe that with their new idea of aiming to sell exotic merchanise they have come up with a fairly unique aim for their guild. Please don\'t clutter up their thread with any more criticisms about their goals and such. 8)

Hello folks.
I think it\'s time for me to announce that I will go on studies for a year, and therefore I will put PS on ice for a while. This means that from now on I cannot be very active on the forums, and not at all in game. Since an inactive leader is not much of a leader, I have decided to step down from my position as leader, and become an inactive member. So from now on, Half-Pint is the sole leader of Mirth guild once more. I wish him good luck in leading our guild, and I hope that Mirth will become strong and well-establised.
I really wanted to play CB when it was released, and I wanted to explore the world with the community I know, but I guess you cannot have everything.
Have a great time in CB everone. :D

I am very pleased to announce that the Champions of Yliakum are now members of the Citadel of Light Alliance (CLA.) :) I am certain that they will do their utmost to defend the happiness and lives of the people of Yliakum against all threats, and I trust that they will uphold the beliefs and values of the Citadel of Light. 8)
I am going back to school in two days, and my online time *may* be limited somewhat then. I will let you know within the next week or two just how much school will impact my activity, but I hope that the impact will be negligible. :P

For another guild to be made a member of the CLA is less of an application process, and more of a scouting process on our part. We keep an eye on guilds that are potential members of the alliance, and build up our relationships with them. When we think a guild is ready, we may propose that they join the alliance.
For individuals who wish to join the CLA, they should check out which of our guilds fits them best. We are all currently recruiting. 8)
Ah, yes, the parties.. :D You can look forward to some riotous, Mirth-hosted bashes in CB, I promise you. :D

I was just looking back at the very earliest threads in the guilds forum, and I came across the original Mirth Guild thread.. Back when YanRK first started the guild. :) Here\'s what it says:

I decided it was time to buy myself a decent laptop. Not only does it make homework easier, but it also makes it possible for me to follow and play my favourite MMORPG (guess which one) as soon as CB is released.
I have returned to my post as an active leader in Mirth, and so we are two again. Together we will make sure that CB will be a Mirthful experience, both in game, and on the forums. :D
I am also glad to see that we have new members in the Citadel of light alliance. I am looking forward to see you guys in game. :)

As Planeshift enters the Crystal Blue era, so does Mirth-guild. I have had the pleasure to meet some of you in game already, and it feels good to see how Planeshift progresses.
I want to announce that us happy-people are still here, and that we are recruiting new people to the cause of goodness, so if you\'re interested in joining our peaceful and joyful guild, just fill in the sign up form on our forums. Our site www.Mirthsite.tk (http://mirthsite.tk/) is upgraded to a new version, the graphics are better and there is some additional content on it now, just like CB :D I hope that you like it.
Mirth guild has been around since April 2002 now, and we won\'t leave you that easily. We are here to stay, and we intend to have real fun while doing it!
I have been busy for some time now, and my access to a decent computer at the weekends is limited due to the fact that I can only get access from my schools connection, and also I have loads of homework to do. That doesn\'t stop me from being active during the week day afternoons though.
