New Crystal Space Renderer: the transition to the new renderer is complete, we were able to convert all our levels to the new format. There is still a pending work on converting particles, but not mandatory for the release.
So devs, i was wondering if we can get some screenshots of the new rendering engine?

Every screenshot you\'ve seen was using NR. ;)
-
Wouldn\'t it be cool if the \"random screenshot\" would actually _create_ a random screenshot off the _running world_ each time it\'s clicked?
Probably too much work, though.

Would be very cool. Might eat up a lot of CPU. Then again, the server does have the whole world loaded AFAIK and it just uses a null renderer. FFXI has a live video stream of the world, so it might be possible (they also have loads of cash). Don\'t expect it soon anyway :P
Here are some new renderer screenshots from the CS site: http://crystal.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/tiki-browse_gallery.php?galleryId=5
All the shots from the news page (save the rendered ones) use NR.

It seems great !

Yes, those are good... but can i get some actual ingame screenies?

I don\'t remember that being in the NPCRoom CVS! Is it time for me to update my CVS tree?
-
That\'s taken by the PS dev team :)

Err, just noticed they have the MB icons in the top left in that magic shop screenshot. In CB there are a lot more. Is it just cuz its an old pic?

No, I believe those icons are going to be kept, as there is nothing wrong with them! Course, they might add new ones, eventually having a choice of displays, etc.

No. It\'s an old pic. You can see the true toolbar in the movie.

Somebody\'s out of date... :P
View the movie (http://www.planeshift.it/download/movie3.avi) to see the new icons and layout.

While it is indeed the case that the next PlaneShift release (CB) will use the new renderer of Crystal Space don\'t expect huge visual differences (yet). The basic system that is usec by the PlaneShift maps is still the same (lightmapped lighting). The use of the NR is only visible in some small areas and hopefully also in speed improvements.
Future releases will of course try to use more eye candy features that are possible with NR.
Greetings,

it\'s more of all the new things together that will be the eye candy. (meh means graphical)
-
Hmmm, I predict that everyone\'ll be linking to this post after CB comes out, and the boards are flooded with hundreds of \"Are you SURE this is CB??\" Posts...sigh...
Always a treat to see a Developer post :D
*Edit: I\'m sorry but that didn\'t sound sarcastic? Cause if it did, I didn\'t mean it. :(

my toolbar was just in photoshop at that time not intregrated in the code yet.

\"Your\" toolbar? :P

I\'m wondering if I should jump at the chance of trying to interpret that in the 500 ways possible, but no, I wont...
I like the layout in the movie, and it didn\'t seem too clunky either :D AHHH ANTS IN PANTS!!!!
