ok im not that old or new at this game but i have started a guild (yes say all you want oh wait here ill say 4 u ANOTHER NOOB GUILD) But ne way i =m a nice guy and i have named my guild metal militia which some of you may know as a metallica song (which is y i named it that) ne way my guild is mainly made for ppl who like metallica but ill take ne one in happily even if they dont BUT the point of my guild is too build a group of many many people soo many that we may not all know eachother but well all have a person on with the same interests as you so you can go and make a friend who is already in your guild if none of yours are on (and youll have a topic of conversation....metallica =)) <----- lol
NE way all sumd up im trying to make a HUGE group of people with commen interests so well all get along =)

The idea of a Metallica fanclub doesn\'t appeal to me, not because I don\'t listen to metallica, but because this as the underlying concept for a guild makes if very out of character :-/

At first I was going to flame you for starting an OOC guild, then I realized you were Killerv, so I decided not to. Add a little IC stuff and I may aprove of the guild :)

It\'s obvious that you had put alot of thought into this guild.
The subject of the thread is very informative about the Metal Militia.
When you explained about the Metal Militia you were very coherent, and your grammar and spelling is so good that I can tell that you got a doctorate in English.
The idea behind the guild fits very well into the PlaneShift setting and is very original, wich is very welcomed in this community.
I would also like to point out that it seems like you worked really hard on the Metal Militia, both in-game, on this board, and outside of it.
Good luck with your guild, FESFES, and may it achieve the goals you set to it in the best way possible.

It sounded like sarcasm, but I may be wrong. Sometimes Cabali are nice... Or maybe I am being sarcastic too :P.

Fesfes, perhaps a more in character approach would be better suited for this community... This is a community which mostly enjoys RP because that is the sole basis of the game right now. Metallica could be a subject to talk about, but if you want your guild to succeed, I don\'t think it should be the main theme of your guild.
See, what PS would really need is for someone to look at the successful guilds, and ask themselves what kind of guilds are missing? Perhaps a barbarians guild, or perhaps, a bards guild? The guilds which have a specific nich in the game will succeed the most. Or better yet, guilds which have multiple niches in Planeshift.

An in-game guild based on a real life band.
It will not last and it is not productive to the game.
I am a huge fan of Metallica but a guild based on Metallica has no place in Planeshift.
It will disrupt the roleplaying atmosphere.
Unless you eliminate Metallica completely from the guild and it\'s purpose, no good lucks from me.

I\'m agreeing with Aendar here, this guild will detract from the role-playing atmosphere. Take out everything about Metallica. That is OOC.If you do take out Metallica and the goal remains the same, then you should rename the guild too.

I agree with Elegrand get rid of Metallica compltetly but keep the goal of assembly a guild where people who share the same interest (metallica) can get to know each other
That was sarcasm btw, and he said he was putting Metallica on the downlo, he doesn\'t realy have to get rid of it as long as he adds some IC stuff.

Do what you want, if you want it called Metallica whatever do it! If it works out and your guild becomes huge and powerful GREAT! If it doesn\'t then you could join the guild graveyard...no rules about the names, not that I have seen ;)

ok, you know what? Listen to this old warrior of steel for a while...
1) Even if people here sound like they know everything about roleplaying, it\'s still far from truth. There\'s much more into rp\'ing than \"get pointy ears, a bow, and pretend that you\'re an elf\".
2) Don\'t forget you\'re a metal, don\'t you dare stepping back just because some people decided to shatter your dreams. If you really want to make a guild based on Metallica, you can always try.
3) Get your spelling right, or choose someone else for guild\'s speeches. Leader that doesn\'t use proper english won\'t do very good.
4) Don\'t make decissions just because of people that criticize you here. You can always seek for advice ingame, people there tend to be much more friendly and helpful.
5) Being a metal leader can be hard if you\'re a \"nice guy\". On this position you must remember to not kneel to anyone or you could get pretty much wasted.
Now to support first point:
Metal Militia (guild based on Metallica, a Thrash Metal band): Following stereotypes about Thrash Metalheads - Most likely underground organisation. A brotherhood that will beat up others for money. Simply pay them and give them a target. Besides being very good in what they do, they also follow their code of honor. They won\'t attack weaker people, seeing that as a shameful act. In one word: Thrash.
Pros: Members will most likely understand their characters to certain point, thus roleplaying should be easier. Also it\'s something oryginal, not just another army guild. Furthermore the guild will have its own culture, something that many guilds here simply lack.
Cons: Some annoying fools will always whine about the guild being based on modern music, thus \"anti-rp\".

I think that confusion has always existed, but in many senses guilds *are* exclusive (or inclusive) clubs. Basically the guild mechanism allows for player-run organisations of every flavour (charitable, malicious, business or service-oriented, secret, even metal :) )

A) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
B) People don\'t like it because it interferes with roleplaying. And since Planeshift is an RPG that doesn\'t sit well here. If you don\'t like what people say about your guild then you had better leave because it\'s not going to go away. And showing how immature you are on the forums isn\'t helping your cause at all.[/COLOR]

Heh, he seems to have added some RP elements to the guild, from what I understood when I logged on today he is a god of rebels and evil stuff while Cybio (hope I got that right) is a \"good\" like god and they want each other dead :)

Yup, The Metal militia has a friendly rivalry with cybio\'s guild (or as he calls \"colt\") I am \"The God pf Evil\" and he\'s \"The God of Good\" alot of people got mad at this too since \"im not old enough to the game to be the god of evil\" I even got muted by moogie for proclaiming myself the God of Evil.............Which brings up another subject................GMs gone wild...............Moogie muted me for role playing..............i guess thats not allowed in this game =P

Fesfes: learn to spell, be polite, post to just one thread. Follow these three simple rules and people may respect you. Other than that, you are just sounding foolish and please, stop whining with Aendar, because that will never go anywhere (try and convince him he\'s not a god--it just doesn\'t work).

FESFES, I think that people will start to accept you more as you learn the etiquette of the forums. I\'d definitely wait at least until a couple of your original guild threads drop off the first page before starting anything new though. Then maybe the mods will let it slide. Aendar, after all, *isn\'t* a god, he\'s just a prancing elf :P

Seriously, you should try to work on your spelling, especially as a guild leader. Actually, it isn\'t even the spelling as much as the needless shorthand. I mean, it isn\'t as if you\'re in a realtime chat trying to churn out messages quickly, nobody sees it until you confirm the post. Just for comparison:

Keep in mind that we have both been here much longer than you, are known and liked by more people, and, in my opinion, have made many more constructive and meaningful posts (not to mention easier to read) than you. We were simply giving you some constructive criticism. If you can\'t take constructive criticism, then I suggest you don\'t try to lead a guild, because you will get plenty more of it. Speaking of guilds, I think you should also take note that Sangwa is a member of the Dark Empire, which is widely respected throughout the community, and I lead the absolute first in-game guild of Planeshift. Your post count weighs very little against actual standing in the community. In fact, I highly doubt there is anyone in the community that really cares about your post count at all.

I am not an oldbie Killerv ^^ and I surelly don\'t want you to see me as one. There is nothing bad in asking you to become better, you shouldn\'t see it like an insult but as friendly advice ;).

I have to agree that post count counts for almost nothing. You don\'t get respect for having excessive numbers of posts, but you have a chance yet to get yourself off my \"List O\' Spammers\", FESFESFESFES. :P

Slightly OT (though I\'d gladly give anyone a cookie who can remember the original line of thought here) but the way I normally judge a spammer stems from the Cabal days. When you log into the guilds forum and the last post in EVERY thread is by the same person...

Well, you could make the site in Tripod, download the HTML files, take out the ad\'s with some HTML editor, and upload the pages.
