Well, someone said that trees were one of the hardest things to model & make look right in a game without having them have thousands of poly, so I modeled some Palm trees because they would probably be the easiest.

I used Alpha Map to do it & am still working on making the textures look right?
I tried to make it look realistic, what do you think?

Oh, & I need to add Coconuts or Bananas too or something. Then if you have the climb ability you can harvest them & sell them or eat them etc.  :))

They look great! Very realistic. :) They seem to look fine from all angles, which is something that\'s usually wrong with game models of trees, they always seem to have a \"bad side\".

Btw, I love the idea of harvesting fruit from trees with the climb skill. That\'s an extremely good way to make an otherwise-unnecessary skill actually useful in the game. Kudos! :)

I found a way to reduce the Poly count to 400tri & still make it look the same. (Unneeded polys found?) The tree consists of 3 identical layers of branches & a trunk, so we could use a factory for the branches & even make differently shaped trunks? I am going to make some coconuts & bananas to go with it now. The tree doesn?t look as good from the top though?

Here is a rotating example I made a ShockWave3D out of: (only 64k) But it just doesn?t do the textures justice (web optimizing).

I am going to export into Sprite & see how it looks?

Yes, both the texture and the model are great. Good job again Zereph.

Nice trees and a great polycount if you have it down to around 400
