Now as we all know, this game is free, and will remain free. But does anyone know if there will be like a \"prefered players\" thing? Where like if you send the team X ammount of dollars, will you get a boost to your stats and maybe some extra money or weapons and what not?

I think it might be interesting and beneficial if PS had a \"donations\" box and if you donated you would get a little pip next to your name...

Yea, something that wouldn\'t effect your stats. I hate games like that. Someone who has money to throw around could be as high skills as someone who\'s been working their tail off for 2 weeks straight.

well since the devs are in all 4 corners of the globe it would be kinda hard to get the money to everyone

Nah, money could be split evenly and easily... All the dev\'s would have to do is to get a paypal account... Hmmm , wait... It\'s probably different in different parts of the world, I haven\'t check paypal out very much.

Anyway, I do not like the idea of you getting something back as far as in-game because rich people could take advantage of this, maybe they could give us T-Shirts if we donated more then $10 or something else not used in-game?
I would hate to see someone bragging: ?I paid 10$ for this really cool looking sword! It has a 1 hit kill!? or something like that.
I like that it is a Free Game & the devs do not use money to make it, only there time. But yes, I think a donation thing would be good as a way to say ?Thankyou!? not a way to increase stats in-game?

I agree with Zeraph about not having ingame rewards. It would just be too easy for some people to become \"uber\" while others worked hard just to get a decent weapon.
I would certainly consider donating a bit to the devs for all their hard work, though, at least when the game is a little bit more complete. :)

I\'ve been told that the planeshift devs don\'t want, and will never want donations.
If you really want to donate, donate to the game engine Crystal Space.

These guys have worked just as hard as the ps devs, and without them, planeshift probably wouldn\'t be in the stage it is now.

Can someone look up in the dictionalry the word \"donate\" in the dictionary please? When u donate you are \"giving\" not \"recieving\" . I hate games when people donate and get special features and items!

Yeah, donating is great and all, but I doubt the devs want any,
(like they\'d get more than 20 dollars anyways, not in the sense that the game sucks, cause it DOESN\"T but that its a donation)
and again, http://www.paypalsucks.com ..... don\'t use pay pal, its a shoddy company who steals money and doesn\'t care about the people they hurt.
And again, that \"donating to get rewards\" thing is totally stupid. It makes the game dumb and shallow for everyone. I\'m wondering why no one else has called this idea totally retarted.

EDIT: When I read someone\'s idea to give t-shirts, I at first thought they meant t-shirts as artiles of in-game clothing! That would be weird... \"I donated to planeshift!\" and then, in smaller lettering \"Kill me! I\'m OOC!\"

Perhaps there could be added benefits for Preffered Players, like only letting them thiev and do PvP and give them additional skills like weaponsmithing, but they should still rub it in the faces of those that don\'t donate to the cause. This will make Planescape...I mean Runeshift...Planeshift even better.

Hmmm, like the dev\'s really have a \"cause\" they are wanting donations for? I\'m sure little timmy\'s operation isn\'t the case here, and besides that if you want to donate to PS, donate a server, like fragnetics, I\'m sure that\'ll help out alot more than 10 dollars every now and then...not some cheap bribery in order to be better at people in a game that\'s supposed to be free. And better meaning that you\'d be stupid enought to use something as retarted as paypal, or to honestly think that money makes you better...oh well, bored of this topic. :D

Verry funny idea melbourne, I don\'t know who would do that kind of weird things in a game. (and yes I hate it that my character in runescape is limited to a part of the world and no thieving :-( )

i dont like preffered players either, mainly because i cant be one since i dont have a credit card and im only thirteen. It gives people advantages because they have money to spare. If you wanna donate your not gonna get anything back but a \"Thanks.\"If you were expecting something in return that would be buying not donating.
EDIT* doesnt this belong in the wish list? i dont see how this fits into general discussion, well i guess maybe it would be general discussion.

You know what...I dont like Prefered Players either... I just realized that. Haha I play Outwar and i hate them on there. I guess I was just wondering. But you know what would be great...if we set up a donation box on the boards or something like that, just so we can show our appreciation for the Developers...
For a hobby I make graphics and websites and what not. I make websies for my friends, who are like, amature rappers and stuff, but they always fall through b/c I dont like to keep them updated b/c i\'m not getting anything in return. So if we set up a donation box or something, they\'d have a reason to keep on developing the game and not stopping.

I ventured to the game-that-shall-not-be-named to see what all the fuss was about... I saw the whole preferred players thing and was annoyed. Claim a game is free, then give the non-paying gamers a demo-like version of the game. I sincerely hope PlaneShift does not become such scum-of-the-earth.. (hmm that\'s a good song...)
I think, a \'thankyou\' posted on the site would be a nice reward, if one was deemed necessary... but that would be for \'contributions\' not \'donations\'... \'donations\' do not need praise.

Komie you play outwar? i used to play, but the game went down the drain once they introduced Preferred players. I dont want that to happen to this game.
