I have an Idea that could get rid of most of the annoying ?When is CB!? threads?
First one of the Moderators & or Devs should create a thread called ?When is Crystal Blue Coming out & what should I Expect?? (or something similar in title) & they should Dock/Sticky it right away?
In this thread they should explain that if you have any questions & or want to post anything about CB, that it should be posted In That Post Only & not to create a new thread because it will probably just be closed by Gronomist or something. Also that the Dev team will not release an official date so we can be surprised!
Then they should also explain what we know already about CB & that should cover most of the newbie threads about the subject, sort of a FAQ on CB?
I am sure everyone is ether wanting to talk about CB or is annoyed about the people who do, we can clump all the people who want to talk about CB in one place so they won?t be bothering anyone.
If by chance someone does post a new thread, then the moderators will say: ?Post this here: [Link to Thread]? & they can go to that thread instead? it?s much quicker & they wont post a ?Part 2? thread asking ?Why was my thread closed??
When CB does come out the moderators can do one of these threads on the next version, when people start getting annoyed about ?When will it come? posts?
What do you think about this idea?

The thing is that those damn n00bs don\'t read stickies.
They like throw themselfes on the \"New topic\" button
-
Anyway, if they saw a thread called ?When will it come out? they may look in there, & probably no more why is my thread closed? It would @ least reduce the number of these threads by somewhat? but I agree, anything with ?FAQ? in the topic usually goes unread by n00bs?
-
you could make a page to enter forums wich says READ ALL THE STICKY\'s in very big letters:p
-
How about hiding the \"new thread\" button (or a \"new thread enablement\" function) behind an slightly obfuscated link in the middle of the FAQ or a sticky? That would leave us only with n00bs who at least bothered to read them and whose questions by chance haven\'t been mentioned there already.
-
Maybe they can?t use the ?New Thread? button until they become a ?Cool Newbie? with the exception of a introductory post, but before they can post new topics they need to take a short open-book quiz about the stickies? :D

There should be a function to stop people chosing the same name for a new thread as in another thread. Also heaving th search menu and a very strong reccomendation to use it at the top to try and Influence those people who are newcommers to this forum to use the search function. As well haveing links to the stickies along the side
-
The problem is that these n00bs simply don\'t read. They will not read anything except the replies to their own threads, exactly to the point when their question has been answered, and then never look at the forum again (unless they get a new problem). They will not read a single line, just locate the \"new thread\" button and post their question. No number of links on the site or recommendation will change that, because they will simply not bother to read even the title.

I absolutely agree with you there, Seytra. However, perhaps it would be a good idea to have the sticky there anyway, so we can just paste the link to newbies and close their thread immediately. We can never save the newbies from their obsession with the \"New Thread\" button, but perhaps we can cut down its impact on the rest of us by dealing with it neatly and efficiently.
...Efficiantly...
No wait... Efficient... Efficiency... no, Efficiancy...
...Efficiently...
Hang on... *scratches head*

Even though i\'m still at cool newbie status i\'ve been wondering these forums for about a year now. and yeah newbs have a fetish about gettin there names in the thread started by space. but i would sticky it anyway. untill you can come up with a feature that gives a 1000 volt shock to any one who types when, will, and cb in the new thread box.
but i kinda like the theards cause the devs always feel bad abot the newbs getting flamed, so they respond. and ever time they do they always let a little more info slip. hehehehehehehe....................... oh sorry :))
