i made my char and got into the world. i tried moving around, so i hit W to go forward. nothing happens..... ok now i go forward....
look/move keys dont respond for seconds at a time, why?
chat window lags out, then plays catch up with what i\'ve typed, grr...
in short, i have been experiencing atrocious lag. why?
specs:
1.8 ghz pentium 4
512mb RAM
128mb geforce 4
Windows XP
i\'m running the one that says OpenGL Mode.
little help?
-
ewww, a pentium... :P Shouldn\'t make a difference, but I hate pentiums. :)
I\'m afraid that the lag is due to bugs in the code, as it\'s a pre alpha version. The next version should be out soon, which is far more optimized. :) So just keep checking the site maybe once a week, and get that version.
The only thing I can suggest if you want to play this version is to make sure that no other programs are running, and to get the latest driver updates for your PC.

glad i\'m not the only one getting lag.
my 500 mhz pentium (something) with 128 mb, and 16 mb ati rage turbo is moderately laggy. not too bad, annoying sometimes.
but, try running it in slow mode. oddly enough it appears to be faster then the opengl mode.
-
@ Steuben: thats because your graphics board is crap. ;) Honestly, 16 MB for graphics are not going to give much of a boost nowadays (64 MB is minimum), and the rage turbo chipset isn\'t helping, either (the first somewhat usable ATI chip was the rage 128 ). I\'m, however, extremely surprised that it runs on as low as 128 MB. Obviously you have a good harddisk and >= 1 GB of swapspace on it.
@L_Kae: try changing the graphics options to minimum, like 8 Bit and 640*480. Window mode might also help (but YMMV). also try using W98 emulation for psclient.exe, might also help.

okay 128mb was a bit of an exageration. i\'ve got 256 mb ram and a rage pro turbo agp 2x with 8mb of ram on a 500 pentium 3. with a pair of wd 10 gb 7200, and a maxtor 20 gb 7200. it\'s not really mine so i never accuatly recall the specs.
yeah it can be painful to play sometimes. and i don\'t crystal hunt very hard. but it is playable.
but i\'ve also got my much sweeter work system for any serious playing.

Well, I was all for AMD until I was told that they adopted TCPA even faster than Intel. :( I still dislike Intel for some of their other actions, however.

lol,all of u forget about this:update ur driver first!that may help, dont ever use the driver disk belong to ur graphic card, they are always the oldest!
i`m using ATI radeon 9600 pro 128mb,core 256,is that okie to play?i heard somebody said ATI dont support this game :(
still download the client!

I have a 1.4ghz , 384mb RDRam, and a 128mb Geforce 4 MX440. I can play the game, and it will run smoothly at time, then it will just lag like mad for no apparent reason. I have the latest drivers and everything and I play other games in OpenGL with 60 fps, I hope the next release will really be optimized a lot.

In case you have not realised the MHz rating on phones is just the frequency that the signal is transmitted from the base unit to the handset, very little to do with computing power at all actually :P
