The Way of the Hammer
The Hammer
The Hammer can be seen as a weapon, representing the strength and power of a Hammerwielder. It can be seen as a smithing tool, representing the crafting and engineering skills of Stonebreakers. It is believed that this is the reason why the hammer has been chosen as a symbol of the alliance that was founded between the races of Hammerwielder and Stonebreaker in the past.
The close friendship between these races could only be seen between dwarfs, they would rally to the help of another if trouble had shown its ugly head, may it be famine, drought or even war. This friendship and help allowed the races to form an alliance. This alliance became know as The Way of the Hammer.
The Alliance of the Dwarfs:
The alliance of the dwarves was a vow by all dwarfs old and young to do their part and help all of their brothers and sisters if times of hardship fell. This alliance grew stronger through the bonds of marriage, births and great friendship. The Way of the Hammer became the way of the dwarf’s livelihood. The alliances would help train the dwarves clans in all of the arts known to the dwarfs. The arts of mining, crafting, leadership and battle made the dwarfs a great and powerful race in the lands of Yliakum. This would mean a bright future to the dwarfs and their children.
The Alliance also contributed to the victory gained in the dwarven wars.
As the towns in Yliakum grew the dwarfs were attracted to the towns and many lost their bonds to the dwarven traditions and values, even to a point that the alliance was in danger of being forgotten. The dwarfs decided it would be best to reorganize the alliance to suit their new life in the city. A guild was formed where all dwarfs were asked to choose a way to keep the arts, traditions, and talents alive, and by doing so to offer an alternative life style that includes to be a good citizen and servant to the Octarchs while staying a proud dwarf in the same time.
The guild would elect a leader who would carry the hammer. The guild leader would give new dwarves a path of their choice and provide leadership for them to master this art.
The Birth of The Way of the Hammer
The guild became strong and grew with great pride…….the dwarfs' strongest asset. With this great pride the dwarfs prospered and lived with great strengths in the lands, with the many paths and skills becoming strong and powerful once again.
The future
Well that is up to all the dwarfs of these lands. Together we can grow strong and show the great pride all dwarfs have in our mighty race. Together we can provide protection, strength, friendship and knowledge….Together we can prosper…

Thanks for the good luck wishes, seems The Way of the Hammer has found its feet again, great new members all great dwarfs and some older members have returned, i feel the rebuilding of the guild is over and the rise to strengths is upon the guild again :)

A dwarven guild.
Sounds right up my character's alley. I'm a relative newb, and actually could use the help/knowledge of some more experienced players. This guild seems like it would be a good fit for me, I just have to puck between Guard or Crafter.
Anyway, I will probably try and contact someone in game soon!

but I'm not the artist who made the sketches, I'm just collecting Dwarfs artwork for age... and I enjoy reworking them using Photoshop...
Eonwind Is there a way to download this into an InGame book ?

I doubt that such a feature would be supported "soon", if at all. Every client connecting to the game server would have to download such an image file to be able to display it in game, which will cause a lot of network traffic, probably much more than the NPC voices.
Furthermore, every player may have a different game window size, therefore it may look worse for some players when scaled down.

a couple minor quibbles about the text that will hopefully be taken in the spirit of helpfulness with which they are made.
you might want to change 'the Hammers founds' to something like the 'Hammer's Heritage Fund' as 'found' is the past tense of 'find' and not a money pool.
'Repairing service' could be better expressed as 'repair service.' It is is a compound noun (http://www.learnenglish.de/grammar/nouncompound.html) and the shorter version would be more common.
'Spells book' should be spell books, another compound noun which typically are pluralized at the end and not the middle.
'Presente' should not have the final 'e' though that does keep with the archaic look and feel.
'Golden Shield' appears to out of line with the other items by one space.
'Non enchanted' is not necessary and should be 'unenchanted' or 'mundane' if kept.
All that said, if the intent is to display Dwarven unfamiliarity with the common tongue, a particular vernacular or colloquialism, or other design feel free to disregard any or all of these suggestions. It might even cause some grammar snob like me to start up a conversation at the sales booth giving rise to a spirited bout of fisticuffs followed by a long night of drinking.
This is a fabulous work of art, kudos to you.

You *could* try using a website that converts images to ascii-art ... but I don't know how well it would work. Personally, I would say leave it on the forum as is.

I doubt ascii art will work at all with the game's book font. If you have some svg graphics, you may want to import them using derula's tool (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=35557.0), which can produce quite amazing results (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=39367.msg445531#msg445531), but is limited to the low detail of in-game maps. Another thing that comes to my mind are those game cards in the museum. Not sure how these were created.

Mhm, yes, it may be very difficult to make good use of said script. Especially if maps are still limited to 200 nodes. Coming back to those playing cards in the museum, I just had another look at them, and they look like bitmaps to me. Or am i wrong? Hard to tell with that small scaling.

Hi Adash, I think familiarity with xml is probably the main requirement ;)
Evaraj is our current master of skin mods, Bonifarzia is another famous skin modder, I'd suggest having a chat with either of those in the first instance.

A little heads up, there will be an "attack book" icon added to the client tool bar in the next release so you'll need a new icon and 'AttackButton' added to the imagelist.xml or you will end up with a gap in the tool bar. I also tested your latest skin and it caused my dev complied client to crash, might be something to look into for the next release.

The festival was a great success, thanks to everyone who took part and special thanks to the Hammers and GMs who worked to make it happen.
in other news...
As this week's Market consisted solely of the Iron Hammer Shop, The Way of The Hammer have decided to hijack the market next week and move it to a different location.
on 11th October 2015 we will open shop in the secret tavern of the Hammers near Amidison, The Broken Barrel.
other traders are welcome to come and set up inside the tavern (or just outside if it gets full).
Our master brewer, Thoraro, will be selling beers and wines to quench your thirst during the market and there may be a turn or two at the barrel brawl to keep you all entertained as well. :D

Certainly. Hangatyr wields the Hammer of the Way now. Esanor still listens and learns. Evaraj keeps the outfit in shape. Thoraro does magic at the brewery boiler and elsewhere. And there will be more you may not yet know...

It’s a sad day that I must stand here and tell you of a great loss to our guild. Brodr Grampus passed away last year. As a tribute to our honoured brodr, for us to remember and a chance to say goodbye to such a noble dwarf and friend there will be a ceremony on the 9th February at 18:00 GMT at the lrifion River at OJA Road2.
He will be missed by all of us, but will be in our hearts forever.
