Not exactly a new idea --> http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=33284.0

Ironically, the players that wanted to do this before are probably some of the "oldbies" you're wanting to pull back now...

Washington State: Starbucks and Microsoft.

Washington DC: Politicians.

I can see how he could make a mistake... they both sound pretty evil to me. :P

LigH is right about the 1998-2000 era, of course, and the notable "distraction" was girls. :P I just liked that excuse and had to throw it in there... after all, even "gods" are only human.

*Marqsaynt rubs his jaw*

Jeez... try to help some people. Is it my fault that old Commodore 8032-SK would look awesome as a lizard terrarium?

On a "serious" note though, I'm sure a lot of people/organizations locally have old computers sitting around in their basements and would probably love to find someone to take them off their hands (even better if it's someone that actually appreciates the machines). The main problem is just how does the person that wants the computers and the people that want to get rid of them find each other? In the US we have "craigslist" I'm sure there must be some free classifieds service similar where you live... the occasional look at the "free" section may turn up a few under-appreciated old comps and a "Have an old computer collecting dust? Online computer museum always looking for donations!" ad may also get some responses from people looking to clear out a little closet space.

And of course, be sure to talk about it to anyone that will listen... :P You'd be surprised how many friends of friends will go "Oh, hey! I have an old computer-y thing... it's broken though, the screen only displays in green. Want it?"

You may be doing all this already but, if not, it could be a nice way to grow your collection at very minimal cost.

A "Sarc Mark" huh...? Now all we need is one for irony, passive aggression, and of course the Marq Markā„¢ that indicates copious amounts of awesomeness.

Your so full of yourself.

Lies! Don't you know the Marq Mark is also the officially unofficial universally accepted regional imaginary punctuation for modesty? Mā„¢

...You don't yell "HEY DEER! I am bout to shoot!" before you pull the trigger.

*smacks forehead* That's what I've been doing wrong!

Galactica.

Q: What major event (plus one "distraction" :P) resulted in a lull in PlaneShift's development?

/me gets overly excited and guesses "Y2K Hysteria!"

/me then seems to realize that he just tried to answer his own question... and still got it wrong.

*looks around to see if anyone is watching... then types into one of the old computers.*

Let's play Global Thermonuclear War.

Ah, memories... My first computer was a Laser 128 Apple II clone my dad probably bought at Sears. A few years later I remember trips to this giant warehouse store to dig through $1 bins of 5 1/2 floppy disks after they had gone out of vogue. Good times.

Insane Impressive collection, Elvi. Good luck with the museum.

You people have no senses of humor... I particularly like the one where Kull is a purrty little kitty cat.

House of Flying Daggers' Cinematography > Hero's Cinematography

Hero's Story > House of Flying Dagger's Story (I don't care if that makes me a "commie" for saying so, it's true. :P)

If I had to choose between the two, I actually liked Hero better... I'll almost always pick story over style.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: What D&D Character Are You?
« on: February 23, 2010, 08:23:05 am »
Figured the results would be more interesting if I took the "test" as my PS character. ;)

Wouldn't that make him at least levels 6/7 though...considering his age  ;D

Exactly how old do you think Marq is supposed to be?! He's not that old but I figure diaboli live fast and die young.

Anyway, was bored and halfway curious to see how the results compared so, I took the test again. Apparently a character based on me would lack conviction.*shrugs indifferently* Seems I'd still be a bit of a rogue though. ;)

True Neutral Human Cleric/Rogue (2nd/1st Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 13
Dexterity- 14
Constitution- 12
Intelligence- 15
Wisdom- 11
Charisma- 13

Alignment:
True Neutral- A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Primary Class:
Clerics- Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Secondary Class:
Rogues- Rogues have little in common with each other. While some - maybe even the majority - are stealthy thieves, many serve as scouts, spies, investigators, diplomats, and simple thugs. Rogues are versatile, adaptable, and skilled at getting what others don't want them to get. While not equal to a fighter in combat, a rogue knows how to hit where it hurts, and a sneak attack can dish out a lot of damage. Rogues also seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to avoiding danger. Experienced rogues develop nearly magical powers and skills as they master the arts of stealth, evasion, and sneak attacks. In addition, while not capable of casting spells on their own, a rogue can sometimes 'fake it' well enough to cast spells from scrolls, activate wands, and use just about any other magic item.

I keep remembering films that I should have noted and it's going to seriously bug me till I add them to the list.  ::)

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - Like it better each time I watch it... a single but very major oversight for my favorites list.

Even More Honorable Mentions!
The Seven Samurai (Japan) (with Yojimbo a slightly distant second), Cashback (UK) the short film and a moderate thumbs up for the feature length movie, and M (Germany) how a true thriller should be made. ;)

EDIT: Grr... and Abre Los Ojos (Spain) - The original and Tom Cruise free version of Vanilla Sky and Memento (2000) -one of those films that is never as good the second time around (like Crash) but still should be seen at least once.
