Guilds Forum / [ASSOCIATION] Bards Association
« on: September 19, 2014, 01:03:55 am »

GOALS
The goal of the Bards Association is to bring together all those who are thirsty for knowledge and beauty, but at the same time are wishing to share it. The association is open not only to the bards in the classical sense, but also to researchers and scholars who wish to disseminate their knowledge, or to those who simply sympathize with culture and art. Members are asked to adhere to a few simple rules: keep a neutral attitude towards the laws and the guilds... and be friendly! The main iniciative of the Bards Association is the Guilds & Traders Journal, the newspaper of the Dome,  whose mission is to inform people about the most important events, merchants and guilds. Nevertheless, the Bards Association aims to promote other initiatives, which are also related to the dissemination of knowledge, art and forms of entertainment.

MOTTO
Look, Think, Inform!

ROLES
The roles available in the association are varied and include a wide range of tasks. They are divided into two main categories: "Bards" and "Lorekeepers". If you have no interest in doing art but you like to support the cause, you are Lorekeeper.

HYSTORY
The Bards Association is born from the need to give greater credibility and support to the Guilds & Traders Journal. It's also an opportunity to unite forces that would otherwise be divided. Although it is Raikana Plip the founder of the Guilds & Traders Journal, from the first moment that her niece Zakena Plip has taken its reins she took her steps in order to create an association that would unite all those who love to collect and disseminate knowledge. Being a bard, she wanted to extend the invitation to those who find alternative, personal, artistic ways to share their point of view. She decided to start small, creating an unofficial group, the Press Association, and seeking alliances and partnerships that could help the association to support itself; the newspaper had become free for readers and supporters were necessary.
Thanks to her perseverance she was able to sustain herself over time, thanks to the generous donations of her supporters, until the time has come to formalize. The Press Association became Bards Association, including among the potential members also scholars, artists, researchers, storytellers and all those who wish to share their knowledge.

Here am I, back to planeshift as soon as my life let me!
Since I've got so little time lately, i've been working on something that can bring the newspaper alive with help and intervention of the players.
Since the last rewriting of the Newspaper's Guidelines, I've let it clear that i wish to give it to the community, so now here I am with the:
Guilds & Traders Journal Online Editor.

You can find it here: http://gtjeditor.hostei.com/.

It has two levels of permissions (Edtor and User). You can use it to check the old issues of the newspaper, and, if you are interested, you could apply to get editor permissions (for now i'm just thinking of give this privilege to the Knowledge Seekers, but anyone can apply).
If you just want to take it and start develop a newspaper your own, please feel free to do so by downloading the source code i've made available at the home page.

Let me know what do you think. Personally, I've been using this tool to help me with the newspaper, so IT IS useful (at least, if you learn how to use it).

SARVA: "We generaly put events on the calendar that are events which are open to all interested players. I'm not sure that the printing of the journal quite qualifies."  ???

Thanks!
Issue N.14 is now out!
PS: I have a question: how can I have the journal publishing day (the 3rd saturday of every month) listed in the EVENTS section of the site? It would be helpful to remind this recurrence to the players... :D

Busy traveler, bard, sorcerer or soldier, no matter who you are in the world, maybe you should listen to my words. Two hundred circles [and some other special prize!] await you, if you know how to bring together all the clues.
I'll make it simple and let you three ways to start. If you're feeling curious, why don't you try to check in the dephts of the arena or, maybe, in the sewers or, why not, in Harnquist's garret?

Wish list / Taking a friend on your drifter/rivnak

Could be good to have the possibility to carry 1 friend on your drifter/rivnak, maybe adding it to your carried weight.  ;)

For me there is no much to say. I left the event as soon as I saw that the festival was ruined (but i roleplayed your bombs with honesty). This has been not respectful and Kaerli has raised some of the main motivations. PS is made of many people; doing RP here does not mean: "I do what I want". You have to respect the RP of the others and INTERACT, not DESTROY. There are no excuses for that behaviour, for me, the only excuse would be if you are really really young (and I hope it is true, otherwise...). Do you realize how many people worked so hard for weeks? Anyway, I must say it left me really sad, and I was not the only one to feel that sadness. The event is rescheduled but it will not be the same. A last thing: i'm gonna totally ignore this RP in the newspaper; i hope this regrettable act will be soon be forgotten.
Edit: I would change the title of this thread to "forgettable". :'(

The newspaper of the Dome is back! 13° issue is now around!
I finally managed to solve my computer problems and could join planeshift again!

Edit: The editor is now Zakena Plip, the niece of Raikana.
