yea, like their name would appear above their heads... if they can do that... to make them stand out some. or how about... he gives off a certain glow, purplish light perhaps.. it would make it kind of cool because the PKers would stand out and it may make some want to by PKers.... but also, everyone knows to watch out for them, and also when they walk into an arena everyone will be gunning for them... so its kind of like... you get that special evil glow thing, but everyone hates you... it would be cool

Honestly... i think i like my idea alot, i would still allow guild wars and the like.

Also, people who pvp and kill the player (using my warn system, outside of guildwars) will have a slower decrease rate of their warning points. So it takes them longer to get out of the red (where red is the percentage where other players can attack them)

PvP,PK and Thieving / All these jobs....

I like a new type of game as much as the next guy... but i also have a love for the hack and slash. I want to know if i will be able to progress just by killing monsters, and pick a trade skill or job for just doing on the side. Will there be dungeons and such that i can hunt in... to progress in... skill points...

I dont know if i like the idea of walking up and... \'hacking\' people, but maybe an alternative idea to PvP servers.

Maybe an idea like AIM has, you know how they have that warning system. When you get higer percent warning level you can send messages less frequently to people... I was thinking how about a warning level where we can warn people...

Think of this, there is some guy who keeps kill stealing you and your party, so instead of calling a GM you all warn him, Once his level gets above 50% you can use secondary skills to attack him... like EQ\'s bash and slam (if those skills will be in there) Those two skills to pretty little damage... When the person is warned to 95% or more then you can use your primary weapons and go all out attack on them. You can make it so everyone can warn others up to 15%...  (example, i can warn someone 0 - 15%, someone else can warn same guy 15 - 30%) The percentage should depend upon how many people can be in a group. The warning level also has a time limit to which it goes down. and after 45% of his warning goes down (or that equal amount of time) then you are allowed to warn him your 15% again...

Its a good idea in my opinion, and wouldn\'t allow all out PvP... Once you get the guy to 50% those small attacks are just like... hitting the person with your shield or a regular punch... then 95% you can beat the guy up and possibly kill him... maybe the devs can set it so you can  only knock him unconscious... or... you can kill him but no matter what level he is he respawns with all his items....

how do you like my idea?

hmm... it sounds good... i guess... it is kind of my idea, with less of a hassle of uploading the MySQL data.

I dont think that would work. The only thing i could see is, you would automatically host a zone when you log on... but that might suck, cause if you have someone with a 56k modem... he can have a 3.1ghz processor with 1gb ram and it wont make a difference... that zone he hosts will be real laggy for anyone to be in. It sounds like it would be good, but im just not sure it could work out. I think my idea is a bit more stable and it wouldn\'t allow for much hacking, because if you host your own zone... there would be ways to hack..... maybe

Its just my idea, but everyone keeps saying the next release will be in december... so i think the devs made that approximation because they want to have those things hashed out nazeroth... Im sure over 4 months will allow them to fix a memory problem.

Wish list / An idea for servers.
« on: August 12, 2003, 06:15:56 pm »
I don\'t know how good of a server you are hosting the game on right now... but it begs the question of if it will be able to handle over 100 players at a time. If it cant i think i have an idea.

Other people can host servers, they have to be credible... like devs or something... The kicker is, that every 24 hours each server would update stats to another server, that would host the MySQL program. This way you can log on to any server, so if one is having lag issues or too many people are on you can go to a different server and still play your same character...

There would of course be problems. Because if you loose items on one server because you die or something. you can then log on to another server and you wont have any items lost until the update.

Something would have to be worked out, but i think its a good idea to have once the game gets near complete and has a few hundred players on at a time...  or maybe you have a good enough server?

Im a pretty serious gamer, i had to quit eq due to the lack of money... But i do love MMO games or just multiplayer games in general... While recently FPS has occupied my attention, i hope PlaneShift will change that.

The devs have done a real great job on this project. The graphics are real perfect too. They aren\'t the best but they are pretty darn good. Plus, when you have games so memory intensive it makes it so not everyone can play the game... (cough... EQ2)

My computer is a decent speed, but i dont want to upgrade to play a game... This game is going to be real good.

My machine runs rather smoothly actually, only a real slight lag problem that i can get over pretty quick... i was just thinking that it may inhibit other players from getting on and playing around.

are you sure though, i played EQ for a long time, and i know when my connection was running bad or if i was in a high lag enviornment (like on a raid in a dungeon) then i would turn down the clip plane to real low, and its a noticable difference between lag. Now i dont know if this is due to processor, vid card, ram, or isp. But i have 1ghz P3, 64mb geforce,  512mb sdram, and cable ISP. So whichever it is, clip plane used to help out with either lag of low frames per second. Its just an idea to put into your project.
