Just thought about something...tattoes!  Maybe have guild tattoes :D.  Kinda like in DAoC where the guild could select from a variety of designs :D.  Also emblems and junk for guild.

Also...You know what would be a great thing for rogues?  Camo...not just blend in junk, but they actually can lay on the ground with like a bush or something that is sticking out of them (not out of them...but you know what I mean..a bush over them).  Possibly they can wear a tree costume :D.  Why?  To sneak up on mobs and such ;).

You know what I wish I could have in a game?  Vampire and werewolf hunters!  How cool would it be if your prof. was to do that?  Vampire Hunter Dee style ;).

I\'ll just throw this out there.  This is just somethin\' I know won\'t happen, but just sayin\' it would be fun.  Have it so that a group of people could actually meld and morph into lets say a dragon.  Each one of them controls some aspect of the dragon.  One the view, the other a spell or maybe its legs.  Another maybe its breathe.  I don\'t know, somethin\' fun that would take a lot of magic, money and people with a big chance of deadly failure :D.

I would not, however, like to have it so you can hire guardians, etc. like in Diablo 2 (shudders).

I assume it is skill based.  Or is it level or is it level/skill based?  Personally I always liked the combo effect ;).

I\'m sure I\'ll think of more later :p

Hey paxx...did you like the idea I put under the rituals thread?...about the guilds being able to do a summoning of a monster (possibly PC controllable) so they could duel other guilds in an arena?

I just call them how I see them.  Besides that you seem to forget one thing.  You keep mixing up Greek and Roman and other gods of such with the Jewish and Christian God.  The Greek and Roman gods were far from omnipotent (they could die...they had human emotions that messed with them...they could have a variety of things happen to them).  The fact is the lore on the page was a bit confusing.  I kinda got that she became a he, but it might not be so clear for others.

Another thing that would be cool is.  Well, I like the fact that in the sky you see the cave ceiling and such.  But what would be even better if there were clouds and birds in the sky and beyond them was the cave ceiling :D.  Would make it seem more like a world inside a cave ;).

I agree with Veng.  It is called decaf!  Bloody hell I wish people would stop whining just because everything isn\'t exactly how they want it.

You know what would make me think of outdoors?...a happy go lucky beat...maybe some flutes and such...you remember the \"Brave Sir Robin Ran Away\" bit from Monty Python?..I don\'t mean the lyrics or anything...but that style...something you can get up and travel to :)

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /

does it just crash or does it say something?  I had a problem with xp with the psclient.exe.  If you do use the search func. in this forum and type \"psclient.exe\" and there is a post that explains how you can solve that problem :).  It deals with makin\' the .exe work as if it was on Windows 98.

Well sir you are wrong.  Even in Greek and Roman myth the gods and goddesses kept pretty much to their sex.  Even when Zeus turned into a bull...well..a bull is male.  I have to ask you staw a question.  Were you born an ass or did you have to take courses?  Because you are being a major one on these boards.

Staw...you only put forward an answer to one of my answers, not the 2nd and 3rd.  These are still valid.  Conclusion?  GET OVER IT!!!  Bloody hell, soon the people who are for the rights of seaweed are goin\' to post next.  Talkin\' about how the seaweed is oppressed by the Nol.

Not bad md!  A bit more variety or maybe something a bit lighter for travel, but that is just my opinion.  I\'d like to hear what you have in store for combat.  Hopefully somethin\' powerful with a lot of base ;).

General Discussion / What works so far and how much
« on: July 11, 2002, 04:39:12 am »
I\'m sure others have done this, but I did it anyways.  The following are things I\'ve worked with to see if they worked and with some things to what degree.  Some things I couldn\'t do because I was alone.

Okay:

Dice Maximum is 10 dice of 10000.  You can not excede 10 dice nor over 10000 in the type of dice.

Guild names can have 122 characters (including spaces, etc.).

There is an error if you try to add anyone who doesn\'t exist in the game (like if you type /buddy doesntexist it would give you a SQL error, instead of a nice \"this player doesn\'t exist\" message).

Buddy add works and so does buddy list.

You can only create/be in one guild (best I can tell).

/guildsymbol isn\'t supported yet.

The other functions (shout, say, newguild, etc.) seem to work fine :).  I\'d need another person to test certain aspects about promotion, etc.

You still can\'t move your view manually, but throw yourself into a corner and moved around and you can see the cave roofs!  Also you can see the edge of the crystal (a big source of light like a sun, but you can\'t see it).  I can\'t seem to go into an open door and you can\'t jump or anything yet.  I can\'t wait to see what the insides of buildings will be and what is outside the walls.  Well, that is it.  I think it is cool how there are tons of buildings in a town (more than usual).

I have an idea...how about rituals for spawning...you know make a sacrifice to the gods for more deer or whatever...it\'ll increase the amount of spawning in an area :D.

Single Author Stories / Exploration of old times.

Leodinus strained his eyes trying to see what existed outside the small circle of his torchlight.  He was shivering, a cool breeze having decided to graze his spine continuous since he entered the ruin.  His feet echoed with his each step, amplifying his fear.

\"Damn you Megar for convincing me to come on this cursed journey,\" whispered Leodinus.  His friend, Megar, told him that treasures awaited them if they could get there.  Leodinus had succeeded, Megar hadn\'t.  A balorg, a relative to a blood wolf, had attacked him as they entered the cave.

They were merrily singing their joys at having found their destination when they saw blood red eyes.  They shined like rubies beside a fire seconds before it leapt.  It had landed on Megar\'s chest, tearing at his throat.  Leodinus, out of sheer panic, began to run toward the back of the cave.  He kept running away from his dead friend and the howls of the approaching balorg.

As his heart pounded and his ears blasting with blood, he tripped and fell forward.  He hit his face on the ground, busting his nose with an explosion of blood.  Leodinus groaned in agony and turned over.  The balorg was approaching him now at a slow pace with lust in its blood eyes.

Leodinus struggled to get to his feet and flee, but his legs were like jelly.  Instead, he dragged himself away from the wolf, calling out for help.  The creature kept coming, the blood of his fallen friend dripping from its pink fangs.

Leodinus pulled himself up to a wall and could move no more.  The wolf was mere feet away and he could think of nothing to do, but cry out to the gods for being so unfair.

Having cursed his creators, he let his arms fall to his side hitting a glyph of entrance.  There was a bright glow that burst into flaming rays of white.  The balorg ran off howling in pain.  Leodinus had no time to be shocked, for the earth fell from him.  He landed meters below.  He rose up to try and return above, but the opening closed.  He was left in darkness for mere seconds when a torch to his right burst to life.

Leodinus was far from the balorg and his dead friend when he found the ancient, decaying tome in a room. He was carefully turning the pages of the yellow and dry paper.  Much of it was ruined and water damaged.  However, he did find a page that was relatively unharmed.  At the top of the page was written:

Xacha Exploration of Hagoy Caves  8th day of the 14th cycle of the year 400 of the year of our Laanx

Below this was written:

We started our exploration of the newly discovered cave with care.  Ten soldiers were divided to be in front and behind myself and the other two scientists.  It was a large area, full of stalactites and stalagmites.  The first part of it went relatively easy.  In fact I was bored by the relative anticlimactic nature of the cave.  There seemed to be an overall lack of creatures in it.  I thought at first it was completely uninhabited.  However, as we got deeper into the cave, we came upon large piles of droppings.  At first we weren\'t sure what could make such a sight.  The thought of bats doing so much seemed impossible.  That was until one of our soldiers screamed out and pointed up.

There, gripping onto the cave roof, were tens of large bat-like creatures.  I sketched what they looked like below.  They are four to eight meters from my guess and have a variety of brilliant colors.

Leodinus saw a fading sketch of what seemed to be a large bat, but with a few alterations.  Its face had small patches of what seemed to be sharp bones.  Its ears were tear-shaped and seemed too large for the head.  The most distinguishing thing was the fact that it was colored a weird green on its chest and a purple on its wings.  Leodinus read on:

I had the soldiers set up a camp nearby and the other Xacha and I began our studies.  We watched their habits.  Their flying patterns, their eating habits (what little we could collect when we did have the chance to follow them to a hunting spot), and their overall behavior.

They seemed oblivious to our presence and their large wings lead me to believe that they have a great strength.  Possibly they could be a cheaper way to transport than the Pterosaurs.  They may even prove to replace those expensive luxuries of the rich.

I finish up this entry with the mention that other sketches and our ideas on their behavior and so forth are in my official book.  I also made a map and directions for this cave starting from the small village of Turavon near the mouth of the Frenho river.

Leodinus knew where the Frenho river was and ran a finger long the map.  He thought he could easily find it.  Yet, another feeling gripped at Leodinus.  The tome was over a hundred and fifty years old.  The expedition it came from was attacked.  Leodinus had heard the story when he was a boy.  The party was attacked by a powerful wizard and only a soldier escaped.  When he reached a town he was so exhausted he only had the ability to tell what happened to the others before he died.  No other evidence of the lost party was found.

Epilogue

Years later the Owner and Founder of the first Megaras breeding company was asked several questions by a bard.

Bard:  \"It is said that the only place in which Megaras can breed is in Yliakum.  Is this true.\"

Leodinus:  \"Oh, that is mostly true.  There is another spot, but I\'m not tellin\'.\"

The bard went away somewhat unsatisfied. Leodinus walked back into his bedroom and muttered, \"Thank you Megar for convincing me to come on that cursed journey.\"

(I wrote this story in the forum box.  It was off the top of my head and I know I am just makin\' up lore and such, but it is just for fun :D.  Please don\'t bash me too much ;) ).

Hehehe...if you want someone to work on it...I\'d gladly do it (I sent in my resume and such to the people for setting or whatever last night).

I understand, though, you have priorities :D.
