Honestly dude, that isn\'t all that slow. I now happen to be blessed by the Intarweb gods with a 3 Mb/s DSL connection, but I remember back in the dark ages when I was stuck with 56k, and believe me, you have not experienced total, utter, ritualistic-suicide-inducing slowness until you have tried to download a 500MB file off Kazaa with AOL dialup.

Urgh, I totally forgot about this thread until I found it just now when I was Googling my username for kicks. =/ Sorry for not replying for so long. =( I pretty much gave up on this whole thing a long time ago, I never got my five referrals and it just wasn\'t worth the time and effort anymore. I suggest you don\'t get caught up in it either, it ends up just being a big waste of time. So many people already have accounts there, or are unwilling to try it out, that getting enough referrals is very hard nowadays. Again, sorry for forgetting about this for so long, and I hope anyone else trying this has better luck! =)

Well obviously the save command would just do the same thing that happens to your data when you log out, without logging you out. :) I would imagine that currently, updates to your experience are stored in the server\'s memory until you log out, at which point they are saved to its hard disk. If the server crashes (the cause of the linkdead error), everything in its memory (including your experience) is lost. So there would just need to be a \"save exp to hard disk\" command.

Are you sure? Why isn\'t that happening when playing games
like UT or Q3? If there isn\'t enough bandwidth then the
teleporting would happen at a low movement speed to right?
Only that it wouldn\'t look as bad.

And how wide is the gap between the current movement
speed and what you call \"too fast\" ?

Though I don\'t think lag would be an issue with faster running speeds, I must say that you can\'t compare a MMO like PS, with thousands of people on one server, to games like UT or Q3, with 32 people to a server.

Frarda, I\'m not talking about going as fast as the cars in Halo lol. The movement speed in games like UT and Q3 would be exactly what I want.

Sorta like in gta, the more you run on foot the longer you can hold down the sprint button, in this case you could run faster (forever). This ould also be used along side dexterity and avoiding attacks......and maybe quests? Racing against a npc. Or perhaps an olympics style race? Who knows! lol, many possibilties.

Though I still dont think the max speed should be that fast, not faster than any other transportation

p.s. lol it would be funny to see enki\'s run on all fours to run faster =D

This would be a great solution to the problem! :) Maybe Agility could affect movement speed?

I\'m getting a bit sick of these people who think that EVERYTHING will cause MASSIVE ammounts of lag. Honestly, like every thread I see in this section has somebody come in and bash the idea as being a source of lag... :/

Can you imagine how much lag would be caused by hundreds of people all attacking different monsters at the same time?! Oh wait, we have that feature and it doesn\'t cause any lag. How can it be?! :o

I cannot see this feature causing any noticable lag. Besides, if it did, there could just be a limit on how often you can do it, say, every 5 minutes or something.

Well in my opinion, realism doesn\'t necessarily equal fun... I think they should strike a ballance between having ultra-realistic movement and having it not be a HUGE inconvenience just to walk from the Plaza to the Magic Shop or something. Most people don\'t have all day to sit there watching their avatar \"running\" (I use the term loosely :P ).

Heh, it would be cool if we could buy pickaxes, sharpen them, and sell them back to the blacksmith for over twice as much... :P

Excuse me, I am not moaning about anything. I\'m just giving a suggestion on something that I think could be improved. That\'s why this forum is here isn\'t it? Did I say I wasn\'t grateful for CB? No, so don\'t go acting like I\'m some n00b crabbing at the devs to get rid of the linkdead errors or something. Jeez.

Go to an NPC... Type /train in the chat... Repeat until you find one offering the skill you want... Click the little button with the bag to buy the training...

sigh...
