Honestly dude, that isn\'t all that slow. I now happen to be blessed by the Intarweb gods with a 3 Mb/s DSL connection, but I remember back in the dark ages when I was stuck with 56k, and believe me, you have not experienced total, utter, ritualistic-suicide-inducing slowness until you have tried to download a 500MB file off Kazaa with AOL dialup.
I would imagine that currently, updates to your experience are stored in the server\'s memory until you log out, at which point they are saved to its hard disk. If the server crashes (the cause of the linkdead error), everything in its memory (including your experience) is lost. So there would just need to be a \"save exp to hard disk\" command.
