Lucky mates, gutted about no international traffic though because almost no local servers for anything

I don\'t think it holds them back too much... what they usually do is proxy out through our office\'s connection, which has unlimited traffic, pretty much. As far as servers go, I think they just run their own servers for the things they want to play- I know they\'ve got a box running the \"America\'s Army\" game, as well as a couple of DC++ hubs for all their file sharing needs. They seem to do all right by it :)

Who? Where? How much?

I\'m pretty sure that none of the regular domestic providers (Telecom, Telstraclear / Paradise, etc) offer anything near that speed, at least to home users...

Citylink\'s another matter though- that\'ll get you access to the main trunk for the country, at some pretty obscenely high speeds. The problem is that it\'s also horribly expensive to install, so it sort of puts it out of the hands of home users.

I know a couple of guys who live next to one of the cybercafes in downtown Wellington, and are able to tap ito their connection (with permission, of course). As long as they stick to national traffic, they don\'t have to pay a thing. At last count, I think they were able to download a full DVD rip of a movie in about two minutes, on a good day.

Curse Telecom and their stranglehold on our communications... if not for that, a broadband connection- a proper broadband connection, mind, not just DSL or ADSL- would be slightly cheaper then what the average dialup companies charge :/
