Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /
« on: August 16, 2005, 06:50:59 pm »
Hello, thanks for the Reply Zabeal, im running the very latest NVIDIA drivers, so its not that.

Maybee its my Graphics card.... anyone else have a Gforce 6600, that can play the game without any problems.

Also.. ive been doing some more testing, and from the moment i click join game, my CPU usage goes through the roof, and the computer almost stops responding, as in... it takes me over 2 minutes just to load up the Task mamager in WinXP to check usage.

Ive got an AMD athlom XP 2400+ ans 1 GB of dual channel 266 RAM, so its not the machine that cant handle the game.

i got in the game only 1 time last night, and that was after over 30 minutes of staring at a corrupt screen, the loading screen was still there, and the GUI had been loaded over the top of it. (my screen res is 1024x768 16bpp) so the overlap bug shouldnt be happening.

Also when i finally got into the game, i was experiencing Lockups every 30 seconds for up to 2 minutes, then it would come back, and then go again.

CPU usage was at 100% all the time and my ram usage was at 480mb just for Planeshift.

Ive tried everything and nothing is working on this system,  so im just throwing up all the info i can think of with the hope that some dev / tech person will come along and say.. hold up a minute.. this seems like the ****** problem ive seen before.

It seems werid really, that the further this game gets in development, the more problems i have just trying to run it. and every time, i have a better and more powerfull system than the release before.

anyone at all got any info or can tell me how i can get in touch with a Dev member to discuss / rectify this problem please?

Sounds like a problem im getting, i get to the loading GUI in the console down the side, then i hear a \"ding\" then this is where i differ, windows then tells me that my graphics driver has stopped working properly, and boots me out of the game, maybe your using a different driver / wondows, and it doesn\'t support the ability to restore your graphics drivers if they crash., therefore locking up your system.

Just a thought, take a look at your graphics drivers and download the newest version if you haven\'t got them already... if you have got the newest version, try rolling back to the next to newest version, as there has been reported to be problems with the latest NVIDIA drivers for certain graphics cards.

Hope it helps you.

Guys, your all moaning about how Tria, and Power leveling is all you have to do in this game, cany any of you remember back to MB and before, when ALL there was to do is RP and hunt crystals?

There is so much more to do in the game now, and i dont see  many people thanking the dev team for all the new and exciting places to visit, and all the items and monsters to kill.  Go out and have some fun, and when ever you get bored, and want to shout / moan about how there is so little to do... remember MB and think of what you got now :)

first off, im not a tech support guy, im just a normal joe that is trying to overcome some problems of my own, and not getting any answer.... just thought i might be able to help you out.

Whats the Error Code from the Access violation line?

Also, have you tried turning your sound off in pssetup.exe, the sound is still quite buggy in this game, and on some systems can crash the game, even on loading screen.

Ive found that quite alot of errors can be overcome by setting the games screen resolution to 800x600 and pixel depth to 16bbp and not in fullscreen mode.  all this can be done in the pssetup.exe file.

Hello there,

Im sorry if this has already been covered, but i searched and couldnt find anything similar,

I downloaded the new release today 3.0.11, and installed it, run the updater and loaded the game,

I had a player account from MB so i used the same details and the same Username, clicked join game... the game requested world, the went to loading world, and the when the bar was about 10% loaded the screen went black and i got an  error stating

\"The nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally.  Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality\"

it happens every time i load the game,  so i looked into the troubleshooting guide which is VERY small to sy the least, and ehy there was something about my problem... as follows.
___________________________________________
Game will not display, black screens or video driver crashes.

Try turning off Vertex Buffer Objects in the PlaneShift Setup application.

Well i checked in the setup and the Vertex Buffer Objects was already set to OFF.

Is there anyone that can help me with this problem please?

AMD Athlon 2400+
768MB DDR 266
Gforce XFX 5600 128mb
1.5mbit line with 256upload

800x600 res open GL

I get an average of 113 FPS using a 5 minute benchmark with FRAPS whilst running around the town, Max fps 511 looking at wall in enterance to temple :P

I think that the lag has relatively nothing to do with system performance, from my experiences with it, it seems to be caused be someone tearing the fabric of the world by glitching through a wall/object.  Just depends how long they get stuck there i think, but fps drops to 0 during this time :(
