Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Cant run the client

I am running mandrake 10 official
I did every step http://www16.brinkster.com/acraig/planeshift/buildmb.htmlthing
I cannot compile with this in configure since I have GCC 3.3.2 only
CC=gcc-3.2 CXX=g++-3.2 CPP=cpp-3.2
With gcc 3.3.2 I can compile everything.
psclient client runs but hangs after I copied the art and data files over from binary package ....any idea.
