Digging - shaping the terrain would take time - much more time than to get out of the terrain.

It could be possible only on owned land part...

Hello again,

I\'ll prepare a more RPGish scenario that will explain the idea and you\'ll see it can expand the game without loosing fun from hack\'n slash.

Acting childish? Hmm we\'re all children - we don\'t want to grow up - would we play RPG games then?

OK think what you think and do what you have to do...

What I\'d like to play is a game where you have some other reason to play than only to slash monsters...

The idea of ageing and exchanging genes would make such a game somewhat exceptional and unforgettable, but I see you want just to have another videogame clone.

I understand it is the easy way - and such an easy way would be understandable if you\'d need to develop the game as quickly as possible to get money out of players.

I cannot understand such thinking in the open-source game.

Or perhaps you are just alpha-testing under the \"opensource\" cover.. ?

Yeah I thought so...

You\'ll get another hack&slash boring game with all the bells and whistles like nice graphics quests and all the crap that already exitst in so many games...

It won\'t differ at all, will be just cheaper.

Have fun

OK so follow this idea ...

A character has its gene pool, and if he wants to stay younger and develop itself he has to find other character (perhaps opposite gender :) ) and then if both characters want to exchange genes - they can do it (under special conditions) then both characters mutate - become younger and change their -... stats, apperance etc...

Just need to develop proper \"special conditions\"

Such game would be much more social, much more intriguing than simply bashing monsters to gain experience...

It was game called \"ECO\" long time ago - similiar idea was used, and the game was very addictive...

Wish list / Avatar's age
« on: October 22, 2004, 09:56:46 am »
Characters should start as young, and grow up after some time, then became older, perhaps die eventually? (could reincarnate into a young being with stats depending on karma he earned in the previous life? not all would like it...). Age could change stats, skill availability...

Avatar\'s look should be altered accordingly...

Together with the changing world idea - it could be possible then to plant various trees, bushes that would grow with time.

Wish list / Let players change the world
« on: October 22, 2004, 08:46:10 am »
Perhaps it would be possible for some skilled players to change the shape of world - terrain - i mean to dig caves, build fences, shape your own ground etc etc..

It can\'t be possible for newbies of course, it should cost some gold, but anyway it could help devs to vary the land and would give a lot of fun.

I think it would be great to allow players to make things - actually 3d objects - that could be inserted to the game after verified by devs...

Could be sort of template to do this, or separate tool - sort of simple 3d cad with predefined set of textures...

Should be a story added to such possibility, i.e. you go somewhere where God (or Santa Claus) make your wish and gives you thing you always wanted to have. Sort of dungeon or ...

Just more freedom - not only crafting predefined items.

Just a \'diffused\' development...

This thread is so long because it\'s very important how do you interact with the game...

I quit playing Anarchy online because I couldn\'t get used to their idea of ergonomic MMI.

I like Project Entropia MMI ... check it out. It\'s a good compromise.

And about changing keys.xml?

Yeah we can. We can even do it with the vi editor - but it is 2004 not 1986.

MMI- (Man - Machine Interface)

Don\'t forget about adding the INVERT MOUSE setting. It is necessary for some people (like me).

Personally I like the WASD and free mouselook.

I don\'t think switching to the mouse cursor is necessary for picking up/dropping/using item. Just aim and press a key on the keyboard is ok.

No hands on screen, cursors, point and click actions switching and all this crap...

I don\'t think head movement is good in the game. It complicates character control and gives nothing.

Morrowind style is perfect.

I know no one playing without mouselook now... I\'d made it default, it\'s just comfortable.

It is all about \"How to forget that you\'re sitting in front of mouse/keyboard/screen, and immerse in the virtual world\" thing.

This game has a great potential.

Don\'t waste it.
