Wow...   if you still have the installed version of the client that you made the account on, it seems that plsclient.txt, in the main directory, should contain something like:
psAuthenticationClient::Authenticate(Rorian,PASSWORD,1)

(and no, that is not my password :P)

All you have to do is open that file and search for any portion of that string (such as psAuthenticationClient)..

Perhaps by \"All crystals should worth more and the weapons keep the same price.\" he means the value of crystals should scale up as more users enter the game.

This of course, wouldn\'t really work (although you could make a killing with \"exchange rates\" :p   Increasing the spawn rate of crystals as # of players logged in increases might do the trick though.

Personally, I have never had the oportunity to really play D&D or any other PnP game :(   (well, once when I was young but it never really took off).   I hear a lot of cool stories from friends who used to play PnP all the time...

On the other hand, I have a lot of fond memories of MMORPGs.

Now, here are a couple of ideas:
Regarding having to type a lot - Teamspeak (google it) is a very nice, relatively low-bandwidth chat program - it allows voice-activated talk and required about 2kb/s up, 2-3kb/s download speeds and near telephone quality.   Also, a friend just suggested \"Ventrillo\".   Because PS itself has such low bandwidth usage, I think it would be quite possible to run a voice-chat program along side it, even on 56K.

As for having the ability to design your own weapons etc.. perhaps for a lot of Tria, you could upload an image to be made into a texture for a generic weapon model, and uploaded to everyones client (either with the psupdater program or when they view it in game).   The only problem with this is it would put load on the artists to create these custom textures (depending on how much it costs of course).   It would also raise issues such as some clients having un-available textures, I think you would have to have the ability for the server to send new textures in-game.

Man, I can just see training now..

Trainer: \"On your marks, get set, FALL!\"
*10 noobs jump off ledges like lemmings*
*9 noobs drink health pots, one goes to get ressurected*

Trainer: \"AGAIN!\"

You might also want to consider player level in the fall damage..   No level 1 player is going to think it\'s very fun when a 2m fall kills them, while a level 10 player only loses 2%hp..  so should it be normalized to a % of health?

I\'m quite sure that the fall-damage will have to be tweaked quite significantly.  What about sliding down slopes, or hitting a scrub halfway down a cliff?   Is damage calculated when you hit the scrub, then again when you hit the ground?   Does fall-height get reset when you hit the scrub?

Also, should there be a cap on maximum hp lost?   In DAoC, for instance, you would lose up to 99% from one fall (or, if the fall was extreme, 100%, but this required a huuuge falling distance), so it was still quite hard to die from one silly mistake.

Also, how would you train for ths \"safe-fall\" skill?   Jumping off ledges like a lemming?  :P

Thanks for clearing that up :)

Can\'t wait to join the team and contribute, once CB is out (if I don\'t get sucked in to CB and play it all day - the CVS build looks soooo good :))

Development Deliberation / New developers

G\'day

I\'ve just become (re)interested in this project over the last couple of days, and it seems that all development is in a closed sort of state.

What I am wondering (and maybe I already answered my own question) is, what is happening with new developers at the moment?   Are we able to sign up, or do we have to wait till CB is out, before we\'ll really get a chance to start contributing?

Thanks

Rorian
