OOC : Rhett was not to be portrayed originally as mean or aggressive. It\'s your choice for what you post, but beating up a little girl? I guess it doesn\'t matter too much. : OOC

Joshua was crying and Rhett tried in vain to comfort him. He hoisted him up onto his shoulder and they continued to plod along, very aware that the chance of them being caught was extremely high.

\"Damn this cold...\" Hilloc whispered.

They had all been noticing a slight chill, now it was intensifying and even Rhett was complaing soon.
A wash of fresh mist swept over them and the small elfin child they had encountered earlier seemingly apparated out of the mist.

OOC : I would appreciate it if people would not bring in elements of planeshift to this story. I want it to be as original as possible, and using somebody elses idea can sometimes work but not in this case. If your to say Lemur just say elf instead. Also I believe Rhett had a claymore not a mace, and to avoid these kind of mistakes it would be good if at the end of the post put in an inventory stating all items Rhett has. : OOC

Hilloc and Rhett with Joshua in his arms until, he felt like walking, maintained a slow crawl in the dark, being careful not to arouse the suspicion of elfin patrols. They had almost stumbled on such a patrol shortly after rescuing Joshua.
This continued for almost an hour before Hilloc hissed in despair.

\"This is futile! We aren\'t getting anywhere. We have to light a torch.\" He grumbled miserably.

\"That would be a great way of avoiding patrols now wouldn\'t it?\" Whispered Rhett, voice dripping with sarcasm.

\"We can take them! All we have to do is light one torch, and head towards higher ground. I\'m sure we\'ve been going in circles for a while now.\"

After a lengthy argument Rhett conceded and lit a torch.
They were startled to see a small elfin girl standing in front of them.

\"You don\'t belong down here, no, no I must tell father, yes, I must tell father.\"

Shamed to say this but I used to play RuneScape and it also had something sort of similar to what your implying, though not as free-form. You could choose accurate, rapid or long distance with long ranged weapons, and strength, block-attack and something else I can\'t remember.

Grrr I just wrote that post after reading through the first page of this thread but not the others... annoying but I hope it still applies.

OOC : Thanks for posting guys, all input is good input. Btw, there might be Meridians but only if I really see a need for it, and good idea chestar, a nice action scene at the very beginning of a story is different and good to read.
I\'ll add an inventory as soon as it\'s necessary. : OOC

Rhett collapsed onto his worn armchair and wept. He was about to fall asleep when he heard a faint sound, barely a whisper.

\"Rhett? Are... you there? I feel... faint\"

\"Popuri! You\'re alive?!\"

Rhett rushed down towards the bookcase and heaved it off her fragile crushed body. There was hope yet but he needed to get her to a healer very quickly.

\"I think I need s-some tea\" Popuri mumbled.

Rhett half ran to the kitchen and put on a kettle.
They were sitting together next to the fire, when Rhett realised she needed help.

He slung her gently over his shoulder and walked slowly towards the door. He trudged for around half a kilometre to the local healers house, in the commercial section of town.
He walked up to her oak door and knocked heavily on the door.

\"Hello? What... oh yes I am a healer aren\'t I... come in then\"

A small woman only five foot tall opened the door and gasped.
\"Oh Rhett I\'ll get bandages and then begin the healing process. Make yourself comfortable.\"

Rhett walked Popuri towards the healer who took her to a room leading off.
Rhett sank onto a couch feeling extremely miserable, and not at all comfortable in the healers highly perfumed house knowing that his three month old son had been kidnapped and his wife was dealing with several broken bones.

An hour or so later the healer came out with a mug of broth for Rhett and a blanket.

\"She\'s going to be fine, nothing permanent, though she will have to stay overnight.\"

Rhett breathed out in a sigh of relief.

\"Now you should get some rest young man!\"

He sat back down and tried to get sleep but failed until past midnight.

He woke up uncomfortable and worried. He pulled on his pants and rushed in to see Popuri.

Collaborative Stories / Little Experiment 2
« on: December 03, 2004, 02:30:53 am »
OOC :     This is basically going to be the same as the first Little Experiment post except with a different storyline. If you want the details of how to post have a look at the original Little Experiment thread. The difference will be that you don\'t have to end the post with choices, you simply continue on from the last.
Good Luck!      : OOC

After a long hard day Rhett pulled off his worn leather boots and sunk into his worn armchair.

He had a very tiring life, though his newborn son was changing that.
Rhett was grandmaster of the Guild of Glory, a guild that accepted all races, ages, genders and political views. They existed purely to boost commerce and protect  the people of Kelsey Shire, a prospering trade center right next to the sea and a three or so kilometres from the largest river in the country, Yanslick.
His son was being born into the most wealthy and successful family in Kelsey Shire, though Rhett wasn\'t as thrilled with that fact as he ought to have been. He was a simple man, who enjoyed sleeping in, good food and his wife Popuri, though his parents and grandparents and great parents before them were ruthless traders, and landed their only son in the middle of a guild he had no desire to run.

He was seriously considering retiring, and he was only 21 years old.
Popuri came up and layed her arms around his shoulders.

wood like texture of the tusk. He walks slowly over to his work bench and starts scraping off slivers of the tusk.

\"I will be quite a while, You have access to everything in my workshop except my gold plated tools and my bedroom. I suggest you explore the cliffside out the front of my house. If you like you can collect me some Populite, a whitish stone with silver flecks. I need some to finish your weapon and armour. Take Reven with you.\"

She grins at you.

\"Let\'s go hunting!!\"

Do you go hunting with Reven, collect Populite or both?

Inventory:

Cured Crystal Sword
Shortbow
Quiver with 12 arrows
Decent clothes
Creatures tusk

OOC:  By the way it would be a bit more original if it wasn\'t in the planeshift world, I suggest replacing Hydlaa with Quacom.  Sorry for making such a long post!  : OOC

You deduce that talking to Erendas and finding secure shelter is more pressing. You, Erendas and Reven head quickly out of the tavern and towards the outer alleys and backstreets.

\"Jelko, we are going to my workshop. No one but me has ever seen it, and you are very lucky indeed for me to be forging you a weapon.
We will have to purchase horses, it\'s quite a ways out of town.\"

After getting three small mountain horses you hasten towards the rocky outcrops of outer Hydlaa.

Only an hour or so passes before you hear the slightest rustle in the scrub.

\"Duck!!\" Yells Erendas as a poisoned throwing knife glides over where your head was but a moment before.
The assassin leaps lightly onto your horse and drags you backwards. A bright white flash sears your eyes and penetrates into your skull.

\"Jelko?\"

\"Are you alright?\"

Faces. Your vision is wavering and all you can see is two blurred faces. Unfamiliar but... You remember. You were in the tavern, Erendas and Reven came after the elves. You purchased horses and rode until...

\"Why... they were assassinating me? The scryers? This is getting serious...\" You mutter as you remember the white flash.

\"I used a stunning spell, I\'m quite sorry I would have directed it at the elf but I was startled. Yes, it seems you are becoming part of a conspiracy... Anyway give me a look at that tusk..\" Says Erendas.

You hand it over and he strokes it, examining the almost stone, almost

I think that\'s is a very limited view Thenior.

In this cave/stalactite, which is most likely going to be massive, the devs might place a boulder somewhere, and if there wasn\'t enough space then they could slowly erode this bould until a new section of cave was revealed, hence opening up new area for building, and quests etc.

Also someone has probably said this already and I will probably get told to look through the newbie forums before saying something like this,
Mining.
Not to get ore/gold/iron etc., but to carve away sections of rock simply to make more space. If the devs decided they could send out npcs to start mining and have new sections in no time at all.

(ooc) If anyone had the skill I think it would be excellent if somebody perhaps made this story into a game? I would but I don\'t know how to program.

I have no idea what to write after that post i\'ll write again after somebody else. (ooc)

(ooc) Umm...

I\'m really sorry Adeli, I was just having a bad day and was pretty stupid in that post. I agree with a lot of what you say and by the way your a pretty good writer. I think a medallion and an amulet in the same scene is a bit over the top though. And also Jalko and then Jesko?
No hard feelings though ok? Oh and I do read thank you very much. Dune, Lotr, Raymond Feist and Harry Potter series aren\'t childrens books. Back to the story. (ooc)
________________________

You think it would be wiser to inform Jesko of Anath\' Cyren and then continue on to the swamps as there is no hurry.

You read out the letter to Jesko.

He gasps and falls slowly back into a chair.

\"So they\'re back... This is not a good sign. The scryers of time were an ancient organisation of highly trained elfin assassins, who had the ability to see the future and past. They also had the power to fire highly propelled poison darts through time at their opponents.
That the scryers havereformed is not good news...
I suggest you continue immediately to the swamps. We will need the strongest armed forces possible and that dwarf can help you be part of that force.\"

Do you go to the swamps or stock up on supplies?

Hey Adeli i don\'t mean to, but i\'m gonna have to speak crudely.
Shut up!
\"I don\'t like the idea of things just appearing in our inventory. Nobody ever wrote that we had acquired 250 trias... they just appeared. No one wrote that a tusk was cut off the creature... it just appeared. The tusk is not up to me to fix, I just realised we never actually were given decent clothing either, where did that come from?\"

Starting at the top of this sentance. I said a while back that maybe this guy was wearing clothes before he appeared in this field? Or are you implying that he was left there entirely naked in the fields. That\'s a bit sick... Do you want me to write for example:
\'Your standing in a town. Your wearing pants\'

In closing so what if I didn\'t write that he cut off the tusk. Who cares? Bad grammar and spelling I don\'t like but the rest isn\'t really annoying at all so I repeat, Shut up!

You drop back behind a corner, pull out your bow as with a low whistle of the arrow you pierce your friends captor in the eye with precision and force you didn\'t know you had. You then rush into the fray, grasp your friends wrist and climb up a ladder onto the roof. There is a large pile of fire wood.
You hurl a few logs into the frenzied fighting and knock out several elves.
They realise know that you are a foe to be feared and retreat into the tunnels. On the ground you spy a small medallion depicting a coin and a lightning bolt. You rush down and grab it.
\"Thanks. By the way you\'ve lost your mem\'ry \'av\'n\'t ya? Well my names Grash and yours my old friend is Jalko.\"
After checking his and Grash\'s wounds, Jalko wandered around the streets checking fallen elves for money and valuables. After doing his rounds he had 365 trias and 479 more from cashing their clothes at the clothier and bought himself a set of steel armour for 450 tria and swapped his sword and 200 trias for a long broad sword made from a dark metal unknown to him. As he headed towards Grash\'s house a small wrinkled man offered to buy the creatures tusk for 5000 tria.
Do you sell the tusk and make a killing or save it and head towards your mates house. (you see the blonde woman off in the distance)

Inventory:

444 trias
Broad Sword
Shortbow
Quiver with 23 arrows
Decent clothes
Creatures tusk
Medallion
Steel suit of armour

BTW if you don\'t agree with the names I chose feel free to suggest something different. I thought the main character finally needed a name already :).

(ooc) btw merdarion had a good idea the inventory is good as for why does he have 250 trias before he was somehow knocked out and lost his memory he may have had a life, and, hence, money.(ooc)

You charge towards the large creature and leap onto it\'s neck, and drive your blade through it\'s eye and into it\'s brain. It lets out a low moan and slumps to the ground.

You then procede to run through the remaining elves.

\"Hey nice work out there!\" Says a tall blonde meridian woman.

\"Heh what can I say\"

Do you chat this woman up or go and check on your friend?

250 Trias
Steel short sword
