tool bar issue was one of the bugs I first put in.
Its rather annoying to have it there but invisible. :P
It does work however.  the trick is to remember which button is where :D

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Server load? or just my client?
« on: January 10, 2005, 06:51:58 pm »
I installed the latest off the Public Beta, and after getting it running I\'ve noticed that play is extremely slow!

Is this because of a server load issue?
I\'ve noticed a lot more people on then during the closed beta.

Or is this a graphics issue with my machine not liking all the people logged on.

I\'ve had to turn everything way down, and set my dynamic range draw to extremely low settings.

I assume there weren\'t any major code changes between the public beta version and the last closed beta version?

Too bad I can\'t use this as justification for the purchase of a new mac :P.

Running it from the terminal worked dryffer.
Or at least its Dl\'ing the updates.

update:
Updates downloaded.
Running psclient directly launches it, but crashes soon after.
running from Terminal, similar to the psupdater, crashes also.

Both return the following error:
dyld: ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient can\'t open library: /usr/local/lib/libcal3d.10.dylib  (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

I ran finkcommander, but theres no libcal3d available

heh.
i get that the updater is newer than the server\'s version, and it wont download any updates.

UPDATE:

I run update, and it downloads repos.zip, but drops it on the root of my hard drive instead of /PlaneShift_CBV0.3.002_macosx/repos.zip like Console shows

Copy repos.zip to the correct path and rerunning update.app, now doesn\'t give me a newer version error, but Console shows:

Error loading registry file \'/repos/repository.xml\'
Couldn\'t download updateregistry from server!

I tried unzipping repos.zip to both:
/PlaneShift_CBV0.3.002_macosx/repos/repository.xml
and
/repos/repository.xml

but no change.

Currently I can\'t run psclient, either the last updated version, or by reverting back to initial install.

It looks like its downloaded the same set of files each time.
It downloads the registry
Checks updates.
Then downloads all the files which takes a rather long time.
I\'m running a third time and its getting 227.38mb in 216 files.

a bunch of:

data/gui
data/options
data/shaders
art/backdrop
art/worlds
art/things
psclient.app stuff
and a bunch of other misc files

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Updater doesn't check versions
« on: December 11, 2004, 05:50:47 am »
Planeshift version: PlaneShift_CBV0.3.002_macosx
OS: 10.3.6
Computer: 1Ghz G4 Powerbook 768mb ram
Video Card: NVidia GFeorce FX 5200
Character Name: Mosfet Cthulhu

Bug Title: Updater doesn\'t check versions
Severity: Low
Client setup: 800x600 Windowed
Bug Details:

The updater doesn\'t check versions (or size/date/etc) of files present.
As a result, rerunning the updater will download all the same files again, each time its run.
It should only download the needed files.

Java does some cool stuff, but isn\'t always the end all solution.
You should have seen the Photo album software Fujifilm California made using Java and swing... :(
I had the great joy of QA\'ing that piece of work.

Try this:

Go into your Applications Folder on your Hard Drive
Then go into Utilities
Run Terminal

At the prompt run this command:

sudo apt-get install libvorbis0-shlibs

type your password and see if that works.

Near the start of the thread theres some brief info on how to get the lib file.
Heres some more detailed instructions if you\'re having issues or don\'t quite get it:

Heres the Fink Download Page.
http://fink.sourceforge.net/download/index.php?phpLang=en

Click the link Fink for your version of OSX.
Click a link for a download source, usually the location closest to you.
You may have to click the download link manually to start the download.
Mount Disk Image.
Run Installer package.

Copy FinkCommander folder to your Hard Drive if you wish.
Go into the FinkCommander Folder.
Run FinkCommander.
In the search box (upper right) type in:  libvorbis0-shlibs
Hit Enter/Return Key

You should see an entry appear in the list box below
Select the entry by clicking it.
Click the icon on the left (with the blue Plus)
It\'ll probably ask for your password.
Probably twice.
It may also ask for a response, which you can select the default option. (just select next, I think)
If all go well, thats it.

Command Click didn\'t work for me, but heres what I did:

I edited planeshift_folder/data/options/mouse_def.xml to this:

Quote

The mapping is now different from the PC version, but it\'ll work for one button mice.

I tried to use some sort of system for the mapping.
Control = right click type of things
Option (Alt) = looking related
Shift = modifier if added to another or Mouse Run by itself

Heres a pic to make it easier to see:

Whats everyone think?
I actually use a Logitech MX700, but I\'ll try out this setup for a while.
