The point of a development forum is for FANS to talk to OTHER FANs about game development in general, but this is pretty much a moot point anyway.

Im not quite sure why you posted this....this forum is for Roleplay type story writing, as in related to PlaneShift / Medieval settings and the moral doesnt make sense, nor is it funny... ?(

But, even provided you keep your ways honest, not everyone would abide by your integrity, for every honorable PK there are 10 more who are dishonest, my only grievance with PK is abuse of the system, if you are within reason, i am fine with it, but to become a virtual bully is just wrong.

If it really came down to it and there was free range PK, there are people like me, who really dont like Pking...and if i found it being abused in any manner, i would go out of my way to make sure that person learned a lesson. On an another note, PKing is not very realistic, in real life can you go around killing random people with wild abandon and not suffer consequences? No, and i dont think there should be a game that promotes that, in essence i would become a police force, but these are all my own opinions, if you like to mindlessly kill people, there is nothing i can do to stop you.

My plan is to be that one thief in the back of the bar who talks about the good old days, and complains that thievin\' just ain\'t what it used to be, then i continue on incoherantly for a few hours, pay my tab and leave  :D

and i think venge is refering to you have like an out of body expirience and take control of your familiar

Acctually, i was thinking siamese, i have two siamese cats and they occasionally do something that will make me feel dumb compared to them...then i realise they fall everytime they try to sit on a window sill...hrmm what about that idea? an intelligent, but clumsy thief

swords are just fun to make, and its a relativly easy model to work with (compared to others), it gives good practice if you are beginning modeling, or if you just want to make a sword  :D

This idea is really good, and i hope it would end up in the final game. Being a rogue/thief, i would choose a cat, quite, agile, and deadly.....well mabye not, mabye more along the lines of cuddly...well damn thieves aren\'t really cute and cuddly, ugh im gonna have to think about this for  a while  ?(

There is no word \"ambush\" in the world of PlaneShift. PlaneShift is designed to be a communitive, friendly game, not one where you have to watch your back at every second. To implant free-for-all PK would mean to satisfy the small contingent of PKers at the great disatisfaction of the vast majority of non-PKers. If it comes down to it, and you want to PK, find someone to duel, and if they agree, you may duel. Or go to the arena, it isnt that much of a disconvenience, and it saves the common citizen from the grief of being needlessly PKed

To have a point based feedback system, it requires input from gamers themselves, this arises two problems:

1) How are we sure people will even bother voting? I know i wouldn\'t

2) Abuse of a voting system. People may vote negativly of someone, even though they were nice (like say they were offering a fair price on an item, and even tried to cut a deal with you...but they wouldnt give it away for free), or they can vote negatively at random (just walk up to someone and vote them negative for no reason at all). Or Someone could vote positivly on someone to make their \"Evil\" rating go down, whether it be for competition reasons or no reason at all.

Basicly what it comes down to is, to ensure that the entire system works flawlessly, you would have to do a ton of work, and when it comes down to it the system wouldn\'t be any better than a simple word of mouth system. Your reputation should be based on your actions toward others, not whether or not a player clicks a button that says \"This guy is cool\".

Forcing a fame system on people in a game should not be implemented. If you want to be famous, MAKE yourself famous, go out and BE the most evil person on the server, or the most fair, or the nicest, or the best skill. You would be surprised how far word of mouth goes, and if it doesnt go as far as you would like, then try harder.

That only takes care of the killing of newbies, if i was fighting, or otherwise minding my own business there is no way i would want some random stranger to come up and kill me, or even someone i knew for that matter. The way it is set up now is far better than having any
sort of free range PK

Edit: Aruneko, as Elentor said, there will be a dueling system, you arent limited to arenas
