Half so far haven't chosen roleplay...  :(

I am one of them. The pool asks whet part of Planeshift you enjoy the most, half of the people one meets around doesn't roleplay and half of the rest is still starting to learn, thus the roleplay isn't that great.
If the pool asked "what part of planeshift you'd like to enjoy the most?" then i'd select role-playing. As it is i had to save my litle check to use somewhere else(only 5).

I remember when running down the stairs near Kada-el was enough to kill me. I do think that more than 20  minutes isn't that good, or we may start having a lot of afk chars near the spawn point. Also i believe the timer only counts on-line time right? Personaly i don't like afk chars, and whould like to remember that to be afk is banable ofense in many roleplay communities, thus paneshift shouldn't have a mech that encorages it.
One idea: how about the time of curse is  [sum of all stats]/24. That whould be around 50 minutes for veterans and around 15 for newbies.

That said, i am very happy with this new rule, this will surelly curb the suicide rate. :thumbup:

This is still an issue with longswords. Delta blade can't go pass "heated".

I love that finally loading of zones doesn't interrupt the autorun. The game runs a lot smoother in places without grass, it fells very good.

Oh, i now if i get stuck i just have to wigle around a bit in my hole to get out of it.  :thumbup:

I play PS for 3 years now and is my opinion that the "feeling" of the game has changed a lot of times. And I'm sure everyone agrees we are better now than with the "scavenger hunt feeling" of atomic blue. (though i miss when we could mine almost all metails around magic shop  ;D )

Now i must say that about 6 months ago the game sufered from a bit of "WOWization", the talk bubles, the constant questing, the camping of spawns, people running around in full battlegear.

Right now the game is gaining some non-linearity, new tools for creating guild rp are being introduced, quests are becoming more creative, new items and skills are being introduced all the time. I welcome change.

Ok, i finally found Nyshyn. gave her the note, all good. the problem is that she then asks for the tablet. Went with a discardable char all way to canyt to get a tablet but she again just gave the note for nyshyn. Other posts in here hint that in fact there is an stone tablet item, i just never seen the thing.

As of the time of this post, and for some days now, this quest is broken.


Anyway, I'm having much fun with this quests, great work setings team!

I have that problem for sometime now. It isn't that dificult to move around as long as you now the maps and put some gama correction so you can see the mid distance hills.

  • If you're pressing the forward key and click anywhere you stop moving. Very annoying when you feel too lazy to press autorun and just want to change message tabs while moving, for instance.
  • Stamina drops suddently if you start autorun while getting up fron sitting. Nasty bug, never want to sit again.
  • Some containers not refreshing Whenever i use the forge to make coal sludge the sludge stays invisible until until i place a item into the forge or wait for it to melt. In adition it doen't refresh when other people use slots making difficult when the forge is crowded.

One point i would add though, and one that seemingly has eluded the weapons designers of planeshift and virtually every other RPG ever made- in the real world(and i would suspect in any real world with thinking, adapting species that lacks firearms), the battlefield will ALWAYS be dominated by two weapons:

The bow, and the spear(thrown or thrust).

The reason for this is simple, as man has always sought to extend the reach of his arm beyond the limitations Nature has placed on us. Nowadays we epitomize this philosophy with thermonuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles and B-2 stealth bombers, but before the advent of the firearm, rocketry, and aircraft, the spear and the bow absolutely DOMINATED the field of battle. OK, so the spear is not the sexiest weapon, but it was clearly by far the most preferred because with a good spear you doubled(or more) the standoff range of that a sword could achieve.

 A sword was a gentlemen or nobleman's weapon, more a sign of status than anything else, and was really a weapon of last resort(for when your spear got broken or was lost), or one intended for dueling against a weapon of similar design.

 Even the legendary Samurai did not use the Sword as their primary weapon (naginata). Nor did the Romans(Pilum), English(Pike or Pole-arm), Greeks(Phalanx Spear), and so on down the line. The legendary European knights also did not employ the sword as their primary weapon, but instead used the lance for most mounted fighting. In reality it was not until the days of firearms that Cavalry's main melee weapon become the sabre(a weapon designed to fill a very specific role in it's own right, and one that has very specific properties as a result).

In melee combat, something along the lines of a five to six foot long spear with a 12-18" double-edged blade on either end would be very, very hard to beat. You certainly would never want to face a man(or feline) armed with one of those if all you had was a sword....and that's ANY sword!!! ;)

Sincethe beginning of history the throwing spear until the fall of the western Roman Empire, eggining of the Middle Ages, the Javelin/throwing spear was the most used weapon in the known world, even the Greek armies used a great number of skirmishers, In the roman army the only warrios who didnĀ“t used javelins was the spear-armed triarius, The germanic and celtic  tribes went to war with 3-4 spears used for throwing and thrusting, -even the ones armed with claymores-. During the middle ages the thrusting spear replaced the javelin as the basic weapon on almost every army, being replaced by the alberd type of weapon by the time of the Reinassance.

My point is: How about the javelin? we should have at least a couple of javelin designs in Planeshift. They are ideal medium range weapons so i'm sure somewhere in the stone labirinths some race whould start throwing them over their own shock troops against the enemy. Or trow them at the distance to scare off the realy mean monsters, at least...

Didn't solved it fully. But after +0.3 gamma corrections on my videoboard settings, blind changes in the config files() and some relights it's better.

although the screen capture doens't show it.

 The downside is that now the outside paint in the magic shop is pitch black and the overal graphics in the maps that were good are now "cartoony" and too luminous.

I guess that in other peoples' computers the chars have a light radious around the camera and in my case somehow there is a shadow radious.

Elvicat: Changing gama doesn't work, f you look closely in the screeshot the rocks re already too bright. Only thing that gets dark is the grounds in that particular 3 maps. All other textures have perfect lighting. It must be a mesh thing...

Andoryn: thanks for the tip. Wil use fullscren 32 bits in my tests for now on.

Ok, made another relight in fullscren, didn't work.
