Wish list / you guys got it wrong
« on: February 08, 2005, 07:54:30 pm »
wrong i tells ya,

the mining should be exactly like Dig-Dug!!!!

Upon entering the mine,

\"You seem to have crossed time and graphics boundries\"

play dig dug, get bars.

use other retro games(pac man, double dragon, contra, tetris, connect 4)

your level of mining goes up and you can do harder games in the heirarchy of retro games.

you can mine 1+level difference in the mineral given by a specific heirarchy of retro games.

make is so once a char gets to that \"high enough\" point where they can train others, that they dont keep the gold, and instead they get some sort of \"star\", the gold goes to \"The Guild of X\" where X is swords/smithing/magic/ blah blah.

Perhaps \"Stars\" could be used (at further tria cost) to purchase from \"The Guild of X\" the permission/item/secretskill/something of that guild

problem solved?

no giving back money,
positive reinforcement for those who participate,
should not be used to hamstring others
gives people particpating a title?
encourages older players to help newer players (link the formula to the age of the account?)

dunno. you speak back

Get rid of these devilish deamons. They walk through walls and stuff.

Also I noticed the fact that my character(a dwarf) has the \'collapsed\' animation on him, but he can still move around, it looks to me like im being dragged around by an invisible rope.

corpses pop with the items should the corpse \"decay\" before the designate decide not to collect, thus not wasting items.

if corpse decay is used to save cycles, then just make the items decay after a nother short period.

if people are trying to work with a numberless system, its going to involve something i like to call dynamic systems. and computers are bad at calcluating them.

to summerize, computers + numbers= good , ergo->use numbers (all current rpgs need some form of numbers to do graphical, damagal, or whateveragal )

i havent heard of any sort of rpg to not use numbers, in fact real life has become quantifiable through precise measurements.  so so so

so buttons.

(i dont understand what i just wrote)

i think some sort of falling percentage for stealing would be nice on targets, like 10% for the first attempt, 5% on the second, 2.5 on the third.

Each attempt makes the person twice as aware, and so if you succeed, then you take less.

Also give the theives a number of attempts before their concious breaks in and says \"this is bad, stop stealing\" so first time thieves will only have 3 attempts per 24 hours, or something like that. Experienced theives will get more attempts, but set up a max, and make the max so that it needs to be trained heavily to get to there. Forcing players who want to UBERtheif on others have to sacarafice a lot.

oy

they are correct, speak about the bug, let the devs correct it. let us exploit it or see if a similar rendition of it occurs somewhere else in the game.

I have noticed many negetive/positive overflow problems, but thats cool(and expected)

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / -1 mana and no dmg bug
« on: December 28, 2004, 12:12:03 am »
i created a kron or whatever, and he ended up with -1 mana.

the mana bar goes from 100% to zero, and starts all over, it continues to repeat with no sign of stopping.

also in h2h combat (having ~105 str) he does zero dmg against rats on hits, the only feedback i get is 0.00/dmg 0.00 dmg / You hit him in the head, 0.00 dmg

:(

on teh cool side, he starts with huge endurance(~110), and str, with low charisma(~30), and mediocere other stats(40-50\'s)

neato. and he started with 5 in sword, 2 in LitArm, and 4 in MedArm

after testing this some more, it is just a need to update the cp cost in each of the windows (birth, parents, significant things ,events that happened ,final screen)

in addition, could an option be added upon quitting to quit to the main screen, instead of to console?

oy, even though i CAN play it in a window, the program needs to be THOUROUGHLY tested in all environments.

Just telling people to watch it. It will constantly crash with using alt+tab to window switch, i can replicate the bug 100%.

i also got my keyboard layout fixed up, so that wasnt the problem :)

13
What i did was load up huge on all the most expensive items during char creation. I ended up around -400 cp, then i was informed my choices were wrong, and i was sent back to the first screen.

my parents stayed the same(excellent), but the cp were reset to 100, so i brought back my parents to normal, and gained about 150 cp(i chose the most expensive cp professions to start with)

then i proceeded forwards again,  doing it all over,  the cp returned to normal(correct levels), but it could be an area for exploitation.

They could set up the code to work only once a day, or at server downtimes. Stuff would change, but the changes would be more noticable.. It\'s not as if the game needs to be CONSTANTLY evolving, (i think too much processor time needed), just an occasional automated evolve would be cool. They could be kept on the same server, and only run 1-2 times a day.
