You can get jam here hav0x.

You may need to get libidn too if you don\'t have it.

These are all syntax patches, like VC6 compiler doesnt allow redefinition of local variables within the same block or access of protected enumerations from outside the object (and some 10 more issues). But I\'m sure that the fixes are compatible with the linux compiler used by developers.

Send me an email or catch me on irc and we can discuss.

Welcome cyrek!

There are two (and a half)  ways to get linux working at present:

From CVS - build instructions on the laanx site

The install script built by kronon

The binary installer karosh built

The last one is not working at the moment but from the thread re-release appears to be soon.

Lot\'s of threads to search on installation issues and fixes.

Enjoy!

I believe Vengeance is default if you try and login without updating after a fresh install.

This is also a good chance to improve some things.

So stay tuned ;)

Karosh,

I will be glad to help any way I can.  Let me know.

In regards to changing things...

Devs, there have been numerous posts on different threads requesting an art tarball.

If you would get behind a structure that splits the code from art it would simplify creating update versions on all platforms and protect the artists IP rights. From that point it should be easy to run the installer and then load art either with update or from a previously downloaded tarball.

It should be a simple thing to package the art and make it available for download after a users acknowledges the art license terms.

You can modify your stance by clicking one of the stance icons. The icons are located on the same panel as your status bar for health. They range from bloody to full defense.

You should be able to find a stance where you don\'t get beat up too bad and still hurt the rats with that falchion you found.

See if you can update with -> updater -auto

That should get you past the problems with the graphical updater and make sure your system has all the files you need to play.

Here is my vote for it being a GREAT way to do things!

Having downloaded lots of Gigs from both CVS and the official installer, and doing a ton of compiling, the only tool I have used that worked first time on both my machines was Karosh\'s installer.

I really like this game but I am thinking I may have to resort to a different distro just to make it run. Please set Karosh free again :)

What Yliakum needs is more posts like Merdarion\'s if we want more people doing RP.

Having played lots of things from way back to paper and dice, I am out there trying to do my part but I hadn\'t discovered /me until this post.

So you had this n00b running around going \"Altair says mutter\", \"Altair says pokes you\" etc.  Not the greatest results...

Eventually people figure out you have to select a person to greet them properly etc.  But the best way to get more people into RP is for them to see it done in game and to get more information out there!

Thanks Merdarion!

Always tended to one of three classes ranger, rogue or mage in previous incarnations

mage / alchemist  here is attractive

...though becoming a pure mage is a stretch with the current state of the world

so how about mage who mines a lot, and kills critters with a weapon to get PP?

Keep up the great work devs.  The world is getting better all the time!

If you are building on Fedora Core 3 you will need to add libidn to get the updater to build. You can get it from gnu here:

http://ftp://alpha.gnu.org/pub/gnu/libidn/
