Mac OSX Specific Issues / working with CVS

Thanks for the tip sinclair !

After spending more than a day on it (yes, it was my first time compiling with the terminal...;) ), i finally got it to work.

I also have to remove the ignore and shortcutcommands xml files after the first run to reload the game, and I don\'t think I got any error while building ps...so it seems to be a mac specific bug.

For thoses who wishe to try it, have a look on the very good \"Building PS on the Mac\" thread from JeroMyia on Development Deliberation section (sorry I don\'t know how to link to another thread from here....) and the server site for the CVS sources.

It\'s long and hard, but definitly a good way to learn how to use the terminal and unix stuff ! (I was able to do it, so anyone should)

I got that too, i have to retype export CRYSTAL={$PATH} (same for CEL and CSCONFPATH) each time i close the terminal

I already said it on the mac os x package threat :

i could use the updater with dfyer tip : launching it from the terminal
cd /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/;./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater  (if the planeshift 3D directory is in application directory)

but take  care, i had MANY major bugs when I did it, and lost all my key-configs, shortcuts, ...
So make a save copy of the file before trying anything !! and it is not even sure it will give you the good version.....



N.B : I tried updating but the game server is down now so I can check if it changed something


the developpers must be working on it by now, lets just be patient !

Anyway the meaning of my post was just to show the updater could work :
Without the command line, it  seems to stop after downloading the repos.zip file, that doesn\'t unzip when double-clicked and show an alert \"not permitted\" (but it can still be opened with stuffit expander). But there is no problem when launched from terminal.....

Maybe this is a bad permission/authorization problem ?? something you can only do when logged as user in the terminal, because the updater application alone has not the necessary authorizations.

I don\'t know if it might help you fix the bug....(I hope it is already fixed !)    :)

That \'s great, i could get the toolbar with the command line !

More than that, I tried it with the updater and got it to work !!!
it downloaded more than 11 MB of new files and stuff.

But the bad part is :
psclient and updater don\'t launch with double click anymore (needs the commandline)
psclient unexpectly quits now, it says (sorry if it s too long, its for devs) :

I can\'t connect to laanx with psclient (maybe a config problem, since my mail address and pass were not remenbered).

I think i messed up with something, so i ll reinstall the previous version and try again : but i got it to work !

Yes, it is a known bug on all platforms....the only way is to restart the client.

I found another bug, really minor, but I don\'t know if it is only for the mac client or if it exists on other plateforms, so I post it here :
the command line /dequip item_name make the client to crash (whereas the /equip item works fine).

As I said it isn\'t a big problem, just reporting for the devs know it....
this apart, the mac client works well on my powerbook G4

well, I think i \'ll try to activate it (the vertex thing), just to see what it looks like.
We don\'t risk much, since players are saved on the server, and for reinstalling the game...  
it only means copying it from the image disk - it\'s not a linux source code !  ;)  

maybe some more lags


anyway everything seems to be experimental in that game, but works pretty well !

Same here : I can\'t even create new characters

I didn\'t see the vertex line, but I think I will wait the pssetup app for further options, I don\'t even know if vertex shaders are implemented in game yet...

If only I could log in !

You can switch to fullscreen mode  :


edit the planeshift.cfg file and set the Video.FullScreen line to true
