Newbie Help (Start Here) / Smelting
« on: January 15, 2005, 06:05:23 pm »
Sorry if this has been posted before, but searches came up with nothing in this board. I was just wondering how you can smelt your ores to make them into weapons or armor or something. Or if you even can?

Or use pick axes to carve off little chunks of Kran and throw them at each other :D

Or even just have it an item (a tobacco pipe) and you can use it, and you just sit down and blow smoke rings, just as a little something to have fun with to do when you\'re bored.

Yeah... I saw the post on the ideas of learning from books. I liked that. I just wasn\'t sure how well recipes would fit in with the current training system (I really haven\'t played long enough to figure it out), so if you think it would, then I think it\'s a pretty good suggestion.

Kal? Never heard of it. I based these off of WoW. And the rest system shouldn\'t be too catostrophic. It worked out fine in WoW, but i\'m not sure how different the experience systems are ?

Wish list / Recipes and Schematics!

I think that they should have things called schematics and recipes that you can buy and carry around, so once you get to the certain skill level required to learn how to make a new weapon or cook a new food, you don\'t have to go to the trainer, but just learn it from the little item that you had carried with you.

I\'m not sure how this would work with the PlaneShift tradeskill system, but it worked really nicely in World of Warcraft.

Wish list / Fishing, Rest, and Holiday Items!
« on: January 15, 2005, 07:48:06 am »
I think that

1. There should be fishing! And you can catch special fish (like a 8 pound catfish) that you can hold in your weapon slot to brag to your friends! Or just fishing!

2. We need a rest system! Whenever you stay in a tavern, you get rested after a while. The more you\'re rested, the more experience you get! (You stay in a tavern for 2 hours, you get 150% normal experience or something)

3. During the holidays, there should be special holiday items (Like at Christmas, you might have snowballs that you can throw at each other, or candy canes and gingerbread men that you can cook (if there\'s a cooking skill))

These are some of the things that made other games I had played extremely fun. See also my topic called Homelands! for another (I think) great idea.

P.S. I\'m not sure how hard this would be to do at this point, but I think there should be alliances. Like say Dwarves, Elves, Humans, and whatnot belong to one alliance, and the Stone-golem thingys, Demony thingys, and other people belong to another alliance, and they\'re like different teams. This may sound stupid, but it might just work.

I do agree with a mechanics skill though. In the game World of Warcraft, they had a great mechanics system. You could build anything from little copper bombs to mechanical squirrels that could follow you around, for fireworks to impress your friends, or target dummies that diverted monsters away from you. I think this would be a great addition to the game.
