i use ./updater -auto (as mentioned somewhere in this forum) because there is (still? can\'t try that here, sorry, maybe it\'s been fixed) a bug in the gui.

had the same problem.  thanks for the tip supergrover.
no need to add a new character though.
i edited my planeshift.cfg and set the visibility of the info window to false:
PlaneShift.GUI.InfoWindow.Visible = false
