crap, I didn\'t see this, well mine is for really stupid dummies

1.once you have planeshift installed and you have this problem, please read this thread.
2.Once you have it installed, and you notice the problem, the first thing you need to do is run the updater a few times to actually get the updater.temp file, it should be in your parent directory.
3.Once your in the updater.temp folder, simple press, in this order
ctrl a
ctrl c
then press back, to get back to the parent directory and press
ctrl v
4. After this, when you try to run the updater, you should get an the \"illegal operation\" warning. For some, your updater may work after just doing this, but for some it requires the --auto trick
5.After you have copied the updater.temp files go to your start menu, programs, planshift, then RIGHT click on planeshift updater. Then go down to the bottom and open the properties menu.
6. at the top you should see something that says Target: then there is a text box, in the text box you should see something similar to this
\"C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\updater.exe\"
but it depends where/which file you saved it in.
7.Next simple copy and past a  --auto at the end of the target box.
8. Make sure there is a space between the other stuff and the --auto, this is crucial
9.Run the updater, it takes a while to update, sit back, relax enjoy, eat a pie, drink some lemonade bla bla bla and wait.
10. have fun playing Planeshift, I hope to see you in game

And this has been my easy to follow guide for people that don\'t know crap about computers. I hope this helps everyone! Please, don\'t complain like I did, I still regret that, if your still having problems, ask an official dev to help you out. Heres hoping this works for you guys having the same problems I was.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / no l33t skillz
« on: February 16, 2005, 02:13:39 pm »
Tarachnul you are greatly misinformed about the l33t, if you knew anything about it you would know that the number one, stoof for the letter \"l\" and that the letter \"t\" could be replaced for the number seven. So it can be pronounced either way. in fact the official correct spelling is leet, which stands for elite, hence the term \"f34r my l33t skillz\"

Now I don\'t talk like this often, but at least I know what what all the other people that talk in l33t are saying.

Man... it\'s like learning another language

ugh.... sorry guys... im such an idiot... makes me wonder if I can even think for myself sometimes. Sorry for over reacting, ive fixed my problem. First you have to copy all the files from the updatertemp into the parent directory, then do the --auto. Something so simple confused the hell out of me. Sorry for being a jack ass, see you in game. Flame the hell out of me if you like for being so stupid...

ARE YOU GUYS LISTENING?!?! I have used the --auto thing about 50 times, everytime its the same thing. The automatic starts up and loads to onehundred, once it has done that, it goes to the official updater and the process starts over again. If you don\'t know what im talking about, read the first post. I get the error message when i try to copy the files from the updatertemp into the parent directory. So please, try and keep up

I gurantee that I have tried everything suggested, and that the --auto did not work at all, it merely started the whole course over again. I tried reinstall... no luck, the same thing, so I guess my problem is different from everyone elses, so don\'t tell me that I don\'t know what im talking about, because I have tried all suggested by everyone. Ive searched many other forums, but nothing they recomend will work. Sorry if im annoying you guys, but its all very frustrating.

I got the same thing, but now whenever I try to update, the updater just keeps repeating itself, and it says nothing new, it\'s stupid, and no one has come up with a way to help me

I guess that i\'ve located the real problem if it helps any, everytime the updater restarts, in the updater log folder, the one fatal thing that I find says this

Couldn\'t delete temporary repository zip (updatertemp/repos.zip)

I have no idea what this is though... does anyone know what it is?

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / so no solution.....

So no body has found out whats wrong... No matter what I do I get this problem, it still hasn\'t gone away, i\'ve gone and reinstalled over 3 times in false hope that it would work, but there was no success. I\'ve been anxious to play this game for about a week now, but none of the suggestions made here have helped. Is there nothing else I can do? Is all hope to play this game lost for me?
