Gee Felix, give the guy a break; it\'s his first post! Running Planeshift on the Mac is not easy; it took me hours to get it working the first time. I\'ve updated once, and now it\'s not working again! We should all help eachother without telling people they\'re asking stupid questions. Geesh.

Stereotypes anyone ?

My hubby doesn\'t play either... I\'ve gotten him to try, but it just doesn\'t stick. *sigh* Oh well, more game time for me! ;)

I\'m female, and married too - no kids yet, though (hopefully not for a loooonnngggg time!). I\'ve been a gamer forever. The only thing keeping me from Planeshift right now is that the new Mac version isn\'t ready yet!!! :(

I\'ll try and find out if there are any major plans to change the network version in the near future and if not I will rebuild.  Sorry for my absence, but school & home are my #1 priority right now!

That\'s cool; I\'ve been waiting a couple of years, I suppose I can wait a bit longer! ;)  Thanks for working on it!

But... all this is still irrelevant until the \"correct version\" thing is solved, right? Are we waiting for an update? My PS was running fine this past weekend, but now it says I\'m running the incorrect version.

Heh... patience I have, but I went through such a rigamorole (is that even a word anymore?) to get the game working in the first place, that I\'m not sure I\'ll be able to do it again... seems like I was one of only a few Mac users to actually get it working. Someone actually said that for solidarity\'s sake I shouldn\'t play... :) So the idea of updating again doesn\'t sound fun. But I\'ll keep trying, for now, anyway.

Even though I just updated on 2/27? I\'m afraid it won\'t work again. :(

Hmm... well, I obviously like games, though I play mostly on consoles because my comp is a Mac and there just aren\'t enough good Mac games. I\'m one of the only female gamers I know (I know there are tons out there, just not here where I live). Anyway, I play classical music (string bass), but I\'m not too much of a music snob. What else do I like... off the top of my head I\'d say cats, coffee, and poker. That\'s about it. :)

Does this have anything to do with the \"you are not running the correct version for this server\" message that I got today? I was in last night, and I\'m running 3.007 (for Mac) already, so I\'m confused. Thanks.

Ah... I just got on for the first time a couple days ago, so I thought this was just me. I\'m getting the \"wrong version\" message too, and I\'m already running 3.007. Hmm. Since I have no idea how I got it to work in the first place, I\'m afraid of trying to update it again. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

That\'s hilarious... :D If it makes you feel any better, of the 5 or 6 times I\'ve gotten in, it ended up crashing all but one time. Once I ran around for about 45 minutes or so and picked up a couple of quests, etc., but all the other times the app \"unexpectedly quit\" after a few minutes. I know lots of people are having this problem though; I can wait for the bugs to get worked out.

I had the same problem, and I really wish I could tell you how I finally got it working. I must\'ve tried 30 different things including 2 complete installs, running both versions of the updater, etc. I think it finally had something to do with running the updater through the terminal, but I really don\'t know. Basically I just tried everything (and I mean everything) that people posted in the Mac OS Package thread. And considering I had no idea what I was doing, really (I didn\'t even know I had a terminal, for one thing), I can say there may still be hope. I do have a slightly faster comp (G4 iMac, 1ghz, 768 ram), but I don\'t think that\'s necessarily it. Keep trying.

Thanks; good to know I\'m not the only one, and that it\'s not just a Mac-specific issue. I\'m just excited I finally got it working!

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Quest window question
« on: February 28, 2005, 06:28:28 am »
So I finally got the game running (on a Mac no less!)! I\'m in! I have a question about the quest window; when I click on the quest button I get the window, but I can\'t read the quest description, only the name of the quest. Is this a known bug? Is there a list of quest descriptions anywhere, since I can\'t read them? Thanks!
