I would recomend Fedora.  It is well organized, current and free to upgrade.  Be careful of Mandrake, SuSE and other \"commercial\" distros, they can get expensive in the long run and their \"free\" CD\'s lack a lot.

I have used Ubuntu as well and it is certainly worth considering.  Easy to install, Debian based  and easy to keep updated.  If you use Ubuntu download the \"testing\" CD code named \"Hoary Hedgehog\" don\'t get the older \"Warty Warthog\", it\'s a bit to out of date at this point.

Chilly,

When you post it\'s helpful to mention what operating system you are using: Windows, Linux, Mac as well as the version of the PlaneShift client you are running.

Having said that, you probobly need to update your client :)  There was a new release a few days ago that went a little, how shall we say, ruff.  If you are running Linux you will need to wait for the new installer which will be made available as soon as the devs correct a connection bug.  The Linux maintainer is waiting for this fix before creating a new installer.

Kind Regards

From what I understand they just updated some core components and the new components were not compatible with the map data format so the game keeps crashing on people.  They are resolving that problem now.  There was also another problem that was fixed, I think yesterday that prompted them to release a new version.  I\'m not sure if you can just update to the new version or if you need to download the new installer.

Basicaly, it seems we can expect things to be a little haywire the next couple days while the devs get the new components stabilized.

Patience... it\'s all for the good of the game :)

When I run the psclient-debug I can ask gdb for this:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
[Switching to Thread -1208027456 (LWP 1205)]

(gdb) bt

#3  0x046cadf3 in s16258 () from /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so
#4  0x00000000 in ?? ()

This happens when I try to move.  I can stand in one location for a long while.  As soon as I rotate or move psclient crashes.

I am running a fully updated Fedora Core 3, xorg 6.8.1, I have an ATI 9600XL video card.

Kind Regards
