Newbie Help (Start Here) / What can i kill???

Ok,I\'ve been playing planeshift for about 10mins now and i cant find anything to kill.An advisor told me to try rats behind the tavern but....heh i have no idea where the tavern is.Someone please help out and tell me how to find it starting from the temple.XD thanks loots
