That\'s how it is ingame right now. :)
Well that is handy now, isn\'t it? :D

I\'ve played games where your charactor/pets died from old age. I hated it.
Time would be hard to judge properly, in-game, and ages would be odd, as posted before, too many kids, or too many elders.
Time may move too fast, and you die off before you can really get started, or it moves too slow, and you\'re still a kid when you\'re slaying stone giants.
I\'ve seen a sad attempt at role-play of a little kid running around slaying hordes of monsters in another game.

A nice idea for realism, but death from old age, again, I find icky to have in games :P

Figure I\'ll put my thoughts on this.. so...

I\'ve seen a mix of magic systems, one of the more intreguing ones (at least I thought so) was Dungeon Master II: Legend of Skullkeep... for the many who probably don\'t know that game:
The system consisted of a number of runes/commands the player would combine on thier own. The interesting bit of this was that the player had to discover/create all the spells themselves. In the book the runes were detailed and described, so it was a very logical system.
An example spell would be like so:
(I can\'t recall the names, so I\'ll describe the rune :P )

1st - Any power rune (basicly the power of the spell from 1 - 9)
2nd - Poison rune
3rd - Wind rune

This spell compsed a bolt of poison that would fly along it\'s path, and upon striking something, would burst into a poison cloud.

Anyway, I loved this rune system and PS\'s glyph\'s sound very similar. The only problem I had with the DM runes, was one had to write the spell combination manually, or memorize them in RL :P
So maybe once a spell is \'discovered\' by the charactor, it could be saved in the spellbook.

One last note, please, please don\'t use the D&D spell memorization system. As much as I like D&D, I much prefer magic points used for all spells.

Fun magic.. I love it! Get spells for roleplay, amusement, etc.
In so many of the games I\'ve played, I always thought how much I would love to have spells to \'play\' with, instead of just fighting monsters...
Great idea, this one :D
I imagine I would spend quite a bit of time just playing with sparklies.

General Discussion / Sharing PlaneShift Music?
« on: March 11, 2005, 09:55:39 pm »
I was just curious what the policy on this was.. I would love to send some of the music from PlaneShift to my friends, maybe even draw \'em in for it :D
But, I don\'t want to do anything that would break company rules and such...
My question would be, can I send bits of PlaneShift music to a few friends if I include where I got it? Or will AB sue me? *pokes music industry* :P

Glad to give the comments :P
The music in PlaneShift really did catch my attention; sets an awsome feeling for the setting ;)
I\'m definitely glad the PlaneShift team can enjoy the encouragement from each little positive like this.
It\'ll be fun doing what I can to help :D

General Discussion / Keep up the great game!
« on: March 10, 2005, 07:32:07 am »
Just started playing/testing and I love what I see.
The possabilities for charactors will be awsome once it\'s finished. The music has a wonderful ambience that just adds so much to the game. Ignoring bugs, gameplay is smooth and well done. I really look forward to seeing Plane Shift become even bigger in the future!

Keep up the great work, all of ye :D
