General Discussion / Re: Planeshift.. boring??
« on: July 15, 2007, 01:13:17 am »
I'll admit that I haven't read everything before posting this post so sorry if I'm saying some things that have already been said, but here goes....

Fact is, it's easy to forget that Planeshift is in development. Personally, I saw what Planeshift was 3 years ago and it has come a long way since then. Sure, the rp overall has remained roughly stagnant with it's ups and downs, but there's a lot more to do now than there was to do back then. I think the important thing is patience. As for improving roleplay events, I agree that the devs need to stress it more, but at the same time they can only do so much at once and this game is far from over anyway.

As for the so called "godmodding", I encountered these Sunshine Enforcers and I felt their idea was a great idea. I didn't feel they were godmodding at all. To me godmodding means to make one impossible to defeat, or create an unfair advantage. These guys did not entirely claim to be the Sunshine Squadron. They were potentials recruits for them. Is that really godmodding? Besides, if everyone was afraid of godmodding, people would be afraid to make certain bold moves like these and our roleplay in the game would be even worse than it is right now.

Complaint Department / Re: Progression Points and Artisans

I'm sure there were families of blacksmiths in the medieval ages and renaissance periods who would hand down their skills in sword making from generation to generation. In fact, I believe most professions were this case back then. it does not necessarily mean each generation learns how to wield a sword, yet each generation is able to learn about how to make a good quality swords. It's not just in guns where this happens.

Therefore, I still fail to see why an artisan to perform his/her own profession and have to fight enemies.

Well, although I agree that pp is probably unneeded overall, I still don't mind the pp itself. I just feel the way it's being used at the moment is a little unfair. As it is right now, in order to be a good crafter you also have to be a decent fighter. In real life, if you want to learn the piano do you go around and build houses?  It just doesn't seem right.

Alright, first of all. I've been trying to see if there were any other complaints about this in here and I haven't really seen any. If there was another I'm sorry about this post.

One thing I have been trying to do recently is come up with a good crafter/miner (like a lot of other people of course) and I started this character from scratch. Now, I am eager to go and learn about Metallurgy and Sword Making and all that, but there's been one delay: progression points. Now I know this setup has been the case for a while, so I'm probably not the first to complain about this, but should it be right, for a character who's not even supposed to be a fighter, have to:

1) earn very little pp while mining in which case they would have to make gazillions of tria by the time they are a good swordmaker etc
2) start fighting easy enemies and pretty much camp out at the few which do give good pp, which would be entirely ooc or
3) train in sword and light armour or whatever so they can run around killing trepors which would be even more ooc

Personally, I think there are people out there who don't really want to fight, but at the same time want to craft items. Should they have to go to the arena and fight to train in metallurgy? I think it would be nice if there was something better for artisans to actually earn pp from. Even if it would cause more pp for fighters to earn, a lot of the higher up fighters have thousands of pp, or can earn thousands of pp anyway if they don't. Perhaps giving pp when people make swords, make stocks, or adding more pp for when people mine. It's just a small complaint on behalf of my poor dwarf who just wants to have food and shelter.

Again, I'm sorry if it's been stated before, but I just think something better could be done.

I\'m too lazy right now to read the whole thing so I apologize if what I say has already been said. Anyway...

I too agree with there being nothing wrong with the spawn points. The world will be expanding with different towns, villages, and places to explore. Eventually, everyone shouldn\'t have to be cramed in the plaza. I think it\'s more realistic with the spawns being more \'spread out\'. It\'s really going to happen sooner or later anyway for the better.

Ojaveda, before the rat spawns and now the enki spawns, was pretty abandoned. I think this gives Ojaveda a chance to be a little more populated by the players, obviously especially by the enki. If you are an enki into dueling, set things up with other enki then. Meet halfway in ojaroad with other players, etc. This game is not meant for dueling in the plaza anyway.

My two cents anyway.

Patience. It does look like it is the wipe, but there is also an update going on too. You have to give them time. You can\'t just expect things to magically change. ^^

Moogie: I think a worst guild ever thread would be an awesome idea. :D Maybe it will cut down on the bad threads like this as well if they are able to see some good examples of bad guilds names. A thought anyway.

But yeah, I burst out laughing too when I saw the name. Congrats on the comedy part at least. :P

Indeed, it can be quite repetitive with these guilds that advertise and don\'t really have a basis. It makes them look like they will be gone within a week really.

I agree. If you want people to take you seriously in the forum, tell us the history of the guild, why you guys are here. Basically your overall purpose of existence. Do this before you think of inviting members. Otherwise no one will take you seriously. Ideally, you can also tell us your ranks, etc.

A guild in this game should not be here just for the sake of forming a guild.

You need to target yourself and then cast the glyph. :)

Understandable. I have now seen you and 2 others once before now. I not usually on at that time though. :)

Good luck with that. There are a lot of good players in PS. Just take your time with it and you\'ll find them eventually. ;)

I remember when I initially played MB for 2 weeks (until the game crashed completely on me) I had joined Feline\'s Lair. I am still sorry to this day for not being able to stay on at that time. :(

Anyway, congrats to Feline\'s Lair and Ayshe. :) Your guild is one guild I hope to still see in 5 years. ;)

Indeed, from what I understand we could probably expect the character creation process to be a lot different 5 or 10 years down the road.

....although I could be wrong. ;)

Anyway I welcome you to the game as well. :)

How come I never see you in the game? Just a time zone thing?

Anyway, good luck with this guild. :) This a guild revival? I\'m quite new around here so I wouldn\'t know much about the history of guilds in the game ;)

I don\'t know about you guys, but I seem to be having a bug lately where I can only be in normal stance
