I had that happen to me when I made my first character.

There are 2 ways to go. You can either pick a class or answer the questions and it will pick a class for you.

Choose one way or the other. If you pick a class then try to answer the questions it will give you the \"You did not choose a race\" error.

Hope this helps, it worked for me.

I\'ve seen quite a few posts from people haveing video issues. ATI cards seem to be a major PITA.

I have been an ATI fan for a long time and have found that if I preform the following actions I can play just about anything.

1) Go into the device manager and remove the video card completely.

2)Install the latest drivers for your card.

3)Install the latest version of DirectX (I believe it is 9.0c)

4)Reinstall the video drivers for your card. (Do not remove the device this time.)

There is something about the DirectX installation that ATI cards just don\'t like. I\'ve had my tray icon dissapear, my video modes change, my fonts go hinky, and all sorts of other weird stuff.

Whenever a new version of DirectX comes along I follow the steps above and it seems to resolve any issues I have.

Hope this helps.  :)

We will try to preserve as much information as possible (like guilds) but all points, trias, and items will be gone and reset to the starting position (i.e. nothing or what you got from the MB migration).

What Madcrimson was getting at is when you click on sheild handling a description of the skill comes up in the info window. In the description of this skill it states that in order to use a shield you must not only have the shield handling skill but you must also have one of the correct armor skills to weild a shield correctly.

Hypothetical example:

A small wooden shield would require the \"shield handling\" and the \"light armor\" skills in order for you to use it.

A metal kite shield (shield that covers the torso) would require the \"shield handling\" and the \"medium armor\" skills in order for you to use it.

A metal tower shield (shield as tall as a man) would require the \"shield handling\" and the \"heavy armor\" skills in order to use it.

Being that shields do not work at the moment the point is moot. However, once shields do work it would be helpful if the item description listed which skills were required to use the item.

Shield Trainer Harrow says: \"Young squire, take this shield so that you may defend thyself.\"

Squire says: \"Thank you sir, but how do I use it in my defense?\"

Shield Trainer Harrow says: \"Your guess is as good as mine young squire. Let us train in all manner of skills until one seems to work.\"

Seems kinda silly eh?  :P

Actually I\'ve found that mining really isn\'t that lucrative for me.

Gold ore sells for 6 trias.
Rat pelts sell for 6 trias.

With a strength of 59 I can carry 87 lbs. worth of goods. This breaks down to 40 rat pelts and 40 eyes, or 80 rat pelts, or 12 gold ore. It seems, for me at least, to be much more efficient to kill rats then to mine.

For mining to be a viable alternative to killing rats they need to: A) Reduce the weight of the various ores, or b)Increase the return for selling said ores, or C) Decrease the value of rat pelts, which in my opinion shouldn\'t sell for as much as gold ore anyway.  :P

Greetings, well most of the people in PS are nice - I myself has yet to meet a person that I didn\'t find nice or helpful.

Just wondering what was the name of the guild you metioned?

Tried a search for this one with no luck. (Probably useing the wrong keywords :P )

Here goes:

While trying to exit the sewers, via the hole in the ground behind the tavern, I fall off the world everytime.

What happens is as I approach the top of the stairs the wall that they face disappears and I can actually see through to the rest of the town. If I continue up the stairs, turn, or walk backwards back into the sewers the graphics ghost or leave trails. I then fall through the world to my death.

I have tried looking at the ground and walking backwards as I climb the stairs but have yet to successfully exit the sewers at that location.

System Specs:

I have been playing PS for about 4 days now and figured I would stop by and say hello to the community.

So far I have met quite a few friendly people. I even had someone invite me into a guild my third day in. It only has 2 people so far but hey it\'s only been 4 days. :P

I\'ve been looking through the bug reports to see if I can add anything but it seems everything I have encountered so far has been pretty well covered. I do have some gameplay issues / suggestions I\'d like to post. If it\'s ok to discuss those type of things someone point me to the right forum please.   :O

Until then, cya in game. ;)

Solanon Azureil is the name of my PS character.

Solanon Ebonheart was the name of one the characters I played back in my AD&D days. I tend to use the name for the first character I roll in any RPG type game I play.

I\'ve been able to reconnect with many gameworld friends by useing the same name over and over in different games.

It makes me feel good when someone sends me a message like: \"Hey I knew a drunken cleric in EQ with that name. Are you the same person?\" :))

I\'d like to be able to use a banjo or guitar as a weapon. There is just something about the combination twang / kabong sound they make when you hit someone. :P

Cleric / Healer of any sort.

This is the first type of character I make in any RPG based game I play. It\'s always handy haveing a heal spell / ability when learning new games.
