This system would be complicated, but it would make sense. Since a machete can\'t do everything a longsword can. Nor can a longbow imitate the same function as a throwing knife.

Maybe the specializations could be unlocked, for example, if you have a specialization in katanas that specialization can be seen on your skills screen, but you don\'t get to see any other specializations with swords.

The player could hire NPC\'s to run the shop while he/she is away since many things could happen to interrupt the schedule, and I think we should also get to decorate our shops and maybe do things like upgrade our display case from, say, a random stone age display case to one made from wood or some other material. And I think the guild should decide the rate at which the profits are divided between the guild and the shopkeepers. Maybe the shop could operate as a regular NPC shop except the shopkeeper could decide the final price thus allowing for a little haggling.

I think there is a game called Second Life where the devs do exactly that, but the people there use a code so they can make things from any era (I think that\'s how it is, haven\'t seen the site for a long time)

I like the idea of working for new updates, it would help us get what we wanted faster, rather than getting things we don\'t want because not many people are going to work for something they don\'t like right?

But I like the idea of building our own world/towns better. If we make our own towns and such then no one can map it out properly since it keeps changing and those who ask for maps will find that that it is near impossible to make a map and not have to keep correctng it since the world keeps changing. And we can make our own guild towns.

But then how will the wildlife survive? If we keep building then we will eventually get a huge metropolis where wildlife can\'t survive without getting hunted or killed in other situations. One solution to that would be to make more areas until the PS world is insanely large and too big for the stalactite we live in. Another would be to limit the areas where you could build.

And there is a game that updates while you play(I think that\'s what it does...) but I don\'t think that people here like that game...

Akkaio is a district of Ojaveda which I believe are called Dsars. I have no clue what the Skydome is...

I think the devs could make a new newbie creature and put it in a new area for the newbies or stop spawn campers by implementing animal behavior.  But both of those will require a lot of work.

And is it just me or do spawn campers never post?

*sigh* silly updater... i never use sound and your updating it... its kind of funny when I see that. And my updater has been blasted into a black screen fraught with errors, my game has crashed, my pssetup file isnt working and recover mode is actually working. Noone had better steal my name... or else Ill be really sad... :(
They better not steal my backup name either...
Talad, you and all the devs rock!!!!

Not outhouses...
But a more sanitary bathroom would be nice if it was possible in the middle ages, a feat which I think would take either genius or luck or magic in the middle ages.
Public baths in Hydlaa=Good idea for newbies who like their sanitation and a place to RP? But no outhouses...
I don\'t think the devs want to even model that. Unless the outhouse is well maintained. And I think we\'re going to run out of pockets in the walls of the cavern to dump waste into at some point several thousand milleniums into the future. But this game is a fantasy game so I expect that some mage will clean everything out at some point with some sort of scourging spell.

Now that I read over this it seems rather disorganized...

And what about the animals going through their daily lives? like watching rats going through trash piles and Tefusangs hunting whatever they hunt? Maybe it would be easier to get close to a Tefusang while it was drinking at a pond than it would be when it was just moving from place to place? Are they included in Creature NPC AI or not?

PS: Sorry if I\'m being annoying.

I knew it!!! lousy flame protection... then again it only had like a one percent chance of actually working...

But I was thinking more along the lines of individual behaviors for different animals, because rats and Tefusangs don\'t behave the same way do they?

And why did my search fail? I searched for Animal Behavior and only one topic I found was what I felt really relevant...

The wipe is coming!!! Finally... I heard people saying it wouldn\'t happen until December. But the random item generation makes me wonder, what types of items will be randomly generated? Monster parts? Weapons? Crafting materials?

And yes, ensure a good supply of rats and other small creatures for all of us who shall soon become newbies again.

Anti-Flame Protection:(low-quality and 1% chance of working...) I have done a search for this and I found one thread, but that was a year or so old. And in response to the Why question... why not? :D ok, the real answer: Since when did rats cower on the gorund waiting to be beaten to nothingness by a horde of countless newbies? And I don\'t expect this to be implemented, but if it is then I wouldn\'t expect it for a while.

The Lament which should lead up to the Suggestion:
In A LOT OF GAMES, creatures are unrealistically dumb/\"unprogrammed\" and in some games, they do have a little movement, but not a lot. In some games, they have a LOT of it... well as far as I know only 3 or 4...
1. Guild Wars: very basic, but still a lot better than some, the creatures move, and they attack other creatures of different races sometimes which is more realistic and useful.
2. Monster Hunter Series (1,2,G,PSP Version which is c
coming out at some point)

In Monster Hunter, the whole point of the game was exactly the title, hunt monsters. And hunting monsters is really dull if they stand there doing nothing, so the monsters have intelligence! (yay!!!) even if the AI is a little repetitive.

Each creature had different behaviors, and they would actually eat and drink and have pack/horde mentalities. There were young, old, male and female monsters too.
There methods of attack were different too, some would charge, others would pounce, others would move from area to area carrying out their daily lives, and the wyverns were even given their own lairs! (some were at least) They would respond to bait too.

The actual suggestion and possible examples:
Give creatures different behaviors. Animals should have more \"natural behaviors\" one that do actually exist. Other species (do gobbles count?) do their extra daily activities (like whatever gobbles do that humans do that is part of their daily life). Possible behaviors include a pack behavior, where animals work together to survive, and a loner behavior, where the animal is more adapted to survival by itself.

A Scenario:
A hunter goes out to hunt some random creature that lives in packs. So he begins creeping around, and this creature happens to like meat so he leaves some meat and leaves to set up more bait. So the creatures come along and begin eating. Eventually, the hunter comes back, but he\'s spotted by the sentry and then the creatures flee. They\'re eventually seen again at a pond.
Here they\'re drinking, and they aren\'t as careful while drinking, and the hunter is able to creep up and hit one or two with arrows.

that was a bad scenario... but I hope you get the picture.

Wish list / Accessing Options from the Main Screen
« on: July 14, 2005, 05:39:24 am »
I think we should be able to access options from the main screen, that way people who need to turn off sound to play can do it without the graphics of the game messing them up, and they may need to do other changes too, like changing your auto-pvp accepts and declines.

well if we make high quality models, then there should be an option to lower that quality, so people with bad graphics cards can still play.

simple shadows would be nice.

the mouselook would be good, and mouse steering too, so many other games have managed it so we know it\'s possible and not terribly hard.

And run speed should be trainable.

The creatures could come out of their den at some point in the day to hunt and stay there to sleep. and a den could be used only once, then it is either taken over, or falls apart because it wasn\'t taken care of, or you dismantled it for some necessary resource, thus enlengthening the time required for a respawn. hmmm why not add creatures that appear only at certain times. The only way a pop up creature could be real is if a wizard teleports him to that area, so getting rid of pop up rats is a good idea.

I can think of a way to implement rats coming out of a pipe right now though, spawn him behind a wall, and make him move through a small part of the wall that has a picture of a pipe entrance on it. It\'ll look real funny though... But the player can\'t see the pop up rat, and the rat will go through the picture of a pipe. I don\'t think its that hard, unless there is something I have missed...
