Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Very newbie, is this just a problem with the linux client question

Logged on with the linux client (kudos, it looks really nice so far) and could not move at all, also had a terrible time with chat, lots of dropped letters, is this just the current status of the linux client?
