A cold chill ran up Tagarths spine as he stared through the twilights mist surrounding the ruins in the distance. Terrible things had happened there and it brought back painfull memories to the green eyed cleric.  To say it was haunted would be an understatement.  Reguardless, he knew it was his only refuge from the terror that followed him. His escape from the dark caverns in the mountain was daring indeed. But it was not a clean escape and he knew it.  They would be searching for him.  He had what they were looking for and he was sure they would not stop until they had it.  With that thought Tagarth stood up and made his way toward the keep.  He would be safe there.  At least from his persuers.

The sun was begining to rise behind the ruins bringing with it the sounds of a spring morning.  The first blades of light to shoot out of the horizon beamed off the placid lake just beyond the keep.  The suns burning rays seem to set the water on fire with red and orange flames.  Giving the whole valley a dull golden glow through the diminishing fog.  Birds were flying over head in search of food and field mice were scurring around intent on not be a meal.  Soon the dew on the tall grass would evaporate and the haze would lift from the valley floor.  Thus the cleric and the rodents cover would be gone.  Turnin Keep was still almost 2 miles away.  He decided he had better eat something now as he had a long day ahead.  The chance may not come again for some time.  So he summoned forth some black bread and water, as all clerics do, and continued on his journey.

Tagarth began to think about his companions as he made his way across the open field.  The four of them had been split up when the goblins came.  Legions of them screeming from the hills into the quite little town of Ung\'er.  There were too many to fight so running was the only option. Unfortunately for Tagarth he was a dwarf.  Known well for their stout forms and \'sunny dispositions\' but not for their speed of foot.  Being a bit inebriated did not help matters much either.

He and Halis were at the bar when it started.  A roudy old sailers bar on the warf called The Plank.  It was a place where men could hear the exagerated tales of adventure and possibly get into a good brawl.  Tagarth may have been a cleric but he was still a dwarf.  A seasoned adventurer, he could tell tall tales and scrap with the best of them.  But tonight would be different.  Nothing could have prepaired them for what was about to happen.

Tagarth and Halis were just about to order another pint when Illias blasted through the front door like hells wrath was on her heals.  \"We have got to get out of here and quick\", said the cumley elf to her intoxicated companions.  The pair just stared at her with questioning looks on their faces.  \"Get off of your asses and let\'s go!\", she shouted.  The bar suddenly got very quite.  The patrons all now gauking at her like she was raving mad.  Just then the city alarm could be heard sounding all over Ung\'er.  Illias turned on her heel and left as quickly as she came.  Tagarth and Halis soon followed.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /
« on: December 11, 2002, 04:56:07 pm »
This would be the case if I were indeed running M$ Windows but I am not.  I am running Linux. In order to run in safemode I am using the command line option --video=software.  This produced no change.

Thanks for the input.  I had already tried that.  I also tried full screen, software rendering, and running in a different windows manager.  Always a segmentation fault in psclient-exec.  However the fault number changes depending on the options I set in the cfg file.  Non-the-less, guess I\'ll have to wait till the first release to try it out unless anyone else has any ideas.
