Hmm seems it's a moot point at the moment as i'm running a Mac version 10.3 and planeshift don't work for it yet, ah well.

Its now been a couple of years since i last frequented these parts, real life kept raising its ugly head. things certainly have changed, me having a Mac instead of a PC for one. Those with a long memory may remember the Kran warrior called Brokk, thick as a brick with a heart of gold. How do i get to play him again if i can't remember passwords that access my old account? Will he have already been wiped through lack of use,its been a few years.

I put this in 'Newbie help' as i am like a babe in the wood, ignorant on how to get things done

parting is such sweet sorrow

I would suggest Runescape, its aimed more at the kiddy market

Good luck

Then its put on the net further humiliating the poor lad. Sorry Yayoo but i think its a pretty cruel way of teaching a child a lesson.
I hope the lad was able to see the funny side of it after he calmed down.

Poor kid, a prank gone wrong, that i can live with, but to then continue filming him in his scared heart broken state, thats more disturbing.

i went to scout it out for the army (as Brokk) ran into the shield a few times, killed a rogue. spoke to the shadow, then got teleported into the air to fall to my death. Recovered and got back just as they were mopping up. A small part but fun.

Just been into the deathrealm. Wow!! Truly excellent, a real step forward from what it was before. Very very impressive, the developer/artist deserves a payrise for a job well done.

thanks for the info on quick updating, much appreciated. i guess my leg was being pulled. I\'d explored the caverns under the temple many times, but was told it was another area that the guy was exploring. I came upon this person at the beginning of the road through the forest, he was fully submerges beneath it and only his name was visible. he said he was mining underground. guess i fell for that one

General Discussion / updating (a question)
« on: October 23, 2005, 02:12:39 pm »
How often should one update? I ask because when i went to the magic shop i was unable to get into the lab area at the bottom of the stairs. I was advised to update, this took about four hours (is there an easier way that takes less time?). Then last week I was in a conversation with a character who was mining underground, he said i should go through one of the other open gates in the city and i would find an entrance to caves. I searched and searched but to no avail, i just couldn\'t find another open gate. Do i need to update again to find these caves or was my leg being pulled?

thanks

I\'d like to thank everyone for their responses to the post, every one of them. the sarky ones and the critical ones. Thinking about what has been said i have to agree with the argument that people could and will abuse such a system for their own gain. As a compromise would the system work if NPCs were solid and had the ability to block the way till negotiated with or defeated in combat?

Please forgive me for putting more than one wish/idea in my opening post. I started rambling.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Prerequisite stats for weapons

Why is it that a shortsword that does 8 damage requires a strength in excess of 130?! (the level i\'ve just trained to) and my iron battle axe that does 10 damage I have no problem using. Whats happening?

I do like the fact that trainers only have a finite level they can train, i now have to go to the other city to train both my axe and strength up , a very nice touch

Wish list / players as physical barriers

For the sake of realism and roleplaying i think it would be great if you couldn\'t just walk through each others avatar. is this possible? I ask this because... well imagine, there you are walking along the road when in front of you three toughs block the way, they tell you that there is a toll, pay up or go back, currently you just walk straight through them before they\'ve even finished typing, however the scenario changes if you can\'t simple walk through them, do you pay? do you fight, do you turn back?

Our intrepid adventurer is now a bit peeved who does he call for? The authorities of course. The Watch, we should have a City Watch, miscreants can be reported and Watchmen dispatched to make an arrest, Watchman can be either NPCs or even PCs who have joined up, Watch houses around the city hold pictures of those criminals still at large, another job opportunity for those who wish to become bounty hunters.

As for punishments, Death for the more serious crimes (PC is wiped for ever)  and has to generate another.
Incarceration (the designers will have to develop either a prison environment/building where the bad boys and girls are chucked)
Fines for minor crimes such as petty theft
Exile from certain cities within the world (forced to move elsewhere or take up the life of an outlaw)

just a thought really
