from what ross.burns said

if you didn\'t do magic for a month wont you just be a bit rusty for a while, and after a short while when your character got the hang of it again he migth eb castign spells at full capacity. lets see one of you guys play an instrument and didn\'t touch it for years. you just need to refresh your memory a bit and you\'ll get the hang of it again soon. In real life once you learned something you don\'t forget it, you just need time to regain some of the knowledge you had.

so, if this is implemented. (which i\'m not supprting) once you get worse at a skill you\'ll regain that skill quicker as what your skill will improve. so lets see your skill is 4 and just went to 3, you\'ll get it back up a point quicker as what you\'ll improve the 3 to 4 if the skill at its highest was 3 not the deleveled 4

well you guys do have some excellent ideas. But may I suggest instead of adding a runnign and a jumping skill, just one called athletics be made. which could slightly decrease stamina consumption, increase movement speed and possibly increasing the jumping height by very tiny amounts.

and if it is implemented, perhaps every time 40 stamina is used it could add a practice point to the skill.

also if the skill I mentioned aerlier is implemented, certain races should get a higehr benefit from soem of its benefits, for example klyros might not gain as much speed but they migth jump a lot higher (wings). and enkis migth increase quite highly in both, and krans might get little jump height but a big boost in overall speed ocne he/she fully accelerated and since krans are not exactly alive they will have a good decrease in stamina consumption.

someone did bring up the fallout chat interface?
I would just like to point out that fallout has a ask about button where you cna make your characetr ask about something.

I think like one from wizardry 8 will be good, you can select keywords from the text, type key words to ask about and a list that contains every word that an NPC responded correctly too.

lets see there are 2 NPCs in that game you ask one about a certain destructive item and one will say \"since you know its name i\'ll presume you know what it does\"
and the other can tell you exactly what it does and all the others can say they don\'t know what you\'re talking about.

i just updated my version of wine and it says its a ms windows emulator. (its was about 50MB)

and hook alpha and beta are the first two letters of the greek alphabet. strangely they don\'t have a C. sine they don\'t have a C in the alphabet in greek. it can\'t be be ABC so its just AB which is alphabeta which means alphabet.

when i last checked the soudn system threw an insult at me \"write me\"
btw it just moved onto BETA a while ago.
oh a little joke where does alpha and beta come from

well you can always be a klyros and bug up the flight system. them all you have to do ocne its bugged is go into first person and jump. you will need mouse look to turn around (hold in tab and move the mouse). sicne you are in 1dt person you should get a good shot no probs if you mean from very high. liek taking a picture of the whole hydlaa or a good deal of ojaveda\'s road.

appears the problem was with my distro (mandrake 10)
well i\'ve replaced it with Suse 9.3 and this problem was fixed. but now its very slow. i get 1 frame every 2 or 3 seconds. so can i get some advice. its way to hard to optimise the game in the option screen ingame.  and somehow the setup application is slowed as well.

and booing my swap partition is 400MB or so. an don\'t tell em to make it bigger sicne i do not know how.

Edit 1 i\'ve been doign some mroe testing appears my 3D card is not configured. i think if it is it might perform better. and i do not know how so soem help will be nice.

Edit 2 sorry. i\'ve fixed the error on ym system 3D accelaration is now enabled. just left to test it with planeshift.

Edit 3 i\'ve tested it. appears this problem is for mandriva linux 10 now with suse 9.3 the fps is much higher and i\'m happy this is fixed

for spells i recon you can just use a spell called levtate if its implemenetfd to see what is around you from above. but if this spell is implemented i believe is will be under azure.

and has anyone here tried to play wizardry 1 -> 5 they all are old and have one thing in common other than they run on apple 2 and are very old 0_o . and also have some of the worst graphics. they did start the RPG genre for PC. well the main thing they had in common was there was NO maps. they on;y way you had a map was to either memorise it or map if out yourself. but as the game was 2 D (only 4 directions) it should be fairly easy.

well just if you did not notice.
there is a tapestry in jayose\'s library that has a map of yliakum. it is hanging against the wall rigth next to the stairs. it is just  basic layout fo what the world will be in ym opinion as many of those areas are not there yet.

oh and if the devs do add minimaps i think this migth keep the fun in exploring.
that when you enter an area it will all eb bacl in the distance (unless you were there.
lets say your char can see a 100M far. but only 10M round him of unexplored terrain. but as we have super computers and satilites. do keep monster locations to only what is withink your POV (the 10M) sicen knowing where people are without them telling you. or monsters withut you seeing them is a bit of  weird atvanatage. and sicen tney do not have access to modern technology i think this is what should happen if minimaps are made. just to keep the fun in exploring.
like here is the char (0) and - is how far he can reveal the dark terrain and _ is how far he can see  once he did explore the terrain. lest say each character (meaning liek 1,2,a,d,s) is worth 10M

0-_________

if anyone played wizardry 8 it mapped 10 M from you. but you could see as fara s the line of sight allows. and the maps also showed whatever monsters was in that LOS on the map along with the friendly NPCs and none hidden items. or if you cast a spll you knew wheere evrythign one was. and there was another oen to make it easier to find items. so eprhaps this can happen

Development Deliberation /

i\'ve got an idea that migth fix the buggy sound system.

do we all know of a music player called winamp.
well if you don\'t it has the ability to play many media files including .ogg and for linux they can use XMMS.

basically i\'m thinking how bout the devs mnake a plugin for it that tells the music players which background music to play. sicne the ingame media system is too bugged t use when changing regions. or when regions are changed and the soind is reactivated it crashes most likely. i can\'t giv any code since all i know of programming is printf in C.
or they can try and fix up

and as for the loading system

the best idea i have is to do one that is somehow like this.

when the game starts to load it should load all the monsters skins and player skins and all the map tiles and objects and effects. and just load the the whole world partially to save memory. (just the graphics not boundaries) and perhpas make the solid distance that of /shout. i knwo if this is done so it will be pretty buggy in the beginning. but i recon after a lot of work and effort, and possible  a few cases of regina burn and headaches. you should eb able to traverse with litle loaded in the memory.
hey did anyone in hydlaa bug the flying system. did you notice if yuo go really high and can see quite far. did you notice you can\'t see what is on the other side of the bush if yuo are in the air. and if you decdie to go in that direction you fall off the end of the world if you ae not under the trees.
i thknk with this loading system we can go all the way from east hydlaa to ojaveda by only leaviong the ground  a efw times. with nio walking. and along with this did anyone think they could jump over a wall in east hydlaa and be back in west. well you also fall to your doom. i think if this loadign system is implemented it could have a lot of more capabilities in the PS world

sounds like runescape. they allow you to either have automatic sound meaning it will change by it self as you change regions. or manual meaning you can choose which ione you want to listen to. but for this option you need to have unlocked the sound.
