First, I just got done downloading the program about 4 hours ago.
I am using:
Planeshift CB 0.3.011
MD5SUM for PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.exe:
fc36e88c174f44f7540f130782afcfbb *PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.exe
PIII 1.6Ghz (AMD Athlon XP 2000)
224Mb RAM
S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR 32Mb
Windows XP Pro SP2
After installing the game, I let it run UPDATER.EXE and it downloads the registry and then a new version of the updater. Once that completes, it restarts and downloads the registry and then states \"CHECKING FOR UPDATES... THIS MAY TAKE A WHILE.\" And then nothing happens. Through the updater, I can ping the server, average response of 395ms, but I left the updater sitting for 40 minutes and no change.
I\'ve done this 3 or 4 times, once immediately after the initial install. I then uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled it and tried just running the game without running the updater with the following result:
\"SCF_WARNING: factory returned a null instance for crystalspace.kernel.vfs
if error messages are not self explanatory, recompile CS with CS_DEBUG
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'
Couldn\'t load VFS plugin \"crystalspace.kernel.vfs\"!
ERROR: csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment variable set?
Exiting Planeshift. Press Enter...\"
Uninstalled everything, deleted all directories, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted again, ran updater with the same results.
Last, I tried going through the command window, using \"UPDATER --AUTO\", to which I get the following results:
Couldn\'t unmount temporary VFS path (art/world/npcroom.zip)!
Couldn\'t unmount temporary VFS path (art/world/podium.zip)!
Couldn\'t unmount temporary VFS path (art/world/akkaio.zip)!
Couldn\'t unmount temporary VFS path (art/world/arena.zip)! <-- sits and scrolls this one for a long time
Couldn\'t unmount temporary VFS path (art/world/sewers.zip)!
Plus more that I didn\'t sit here and cut & paste.
I\'ve at my wits end trying to troubleshoot this, and nothing I read in your forums or FAQ explains how to possibly remedy this problem. Is it just me, my system, or what?
